Hi All
I have 255/55/18s on my Hurricanes on my 2000 4.6 HSE. All four need replacing as the Safety Certificate was 'very' generous to the seller when I got it 6 weeks ago.
The spare is a Michelin "4x4" which is brand spankers, and might even be the OEM original. I was thinking of getting one new "4x4" tyre and putting them newies on the front and using two others I have in the shed with 40% tread on the back.
Is there anyone buying/using these Michi "4x4s" and is there a consensus for the best value for money RR tyre at 18"? I mainly use it on the road, but will be hitting the beach and some minor bush tracks every now and then.
Thanks all

I have 255/55 18 Yokohama Advan. Whatever you do, dont use these. My old Disco TD5 had Coopers. Cant wait for these to wear out and go back to them!

I have no views on tyres, black and round and as cheap as poss. They seem to get damaged before they wear out with me.
Just be careful with tyres with different wear. This was pointed out to me by mike90rr who warned that the Viscous coupling might be asked to work a little to hard. I put a nearly new pair on the back and a well used pair on the front only to get an immediate whine from the viscous at exactly 40kph. swapped front and back and whine immediately went.
I am tired of problems with the 18`s off road so I now have a second set of 16" rims running 265/70/16 ATs for playtime

Awesome, any suggestions on value-for-money tyres at the 255/55/18 size available in Australia that I need to chase?
If I go to Bod Jane or Beaurepeairs and say, "My Rangey is a special car, please dont put it up on a chassis lift" are they going to think I am a looney?
Thanks again!

Running the same tyres and could not agree more. They are a safety hazard.

Coopers CST, I have just had them fitted at the Redcliffe store, my 3rd set of Coopers (Disco and the wifes Tribute) quiet, great in the wet, good on dirt.
Cheers
