I have found an original photo of my dear mother (1911-1985) taken in 1938
The original size is 5 cm x 3 cm and not in a very good condition.
First I have done a scan @ 1200 dpi and saved in tiff.
Second in PS I done the image size and resolution @ 300dpi
Third I have done the restoration of the fur coat and all skin details.
I am happy with it and I think that it is not to bad for a 72 years old image.
What you think?

Very good Arthur. Now you need to do the rest! I've spent the last 4 months scanning, restoring and tagging the family's old photos. Hell of a job but worth it. Old pics are priceless.

I've chosen not to touch up a lot of the old photos and where possible, to leave the picture edge as is...just to keep the "old photo" feel.

My parent's 1935 V8 Roadster. Purchased in 1957 but later traded for a Morris (!) when my sister came along.

They do....but I like the look. Perhaps I should do both? That's 2 out of some 3000 BTW. I'm a little over the whole thing at the moment.

Is it always "best" to restore to what you think the original looked like, or, leave "as is"?

I also have have many scanned photos. Some have been retouched but most left as is.

I agree with fixing dust spots. Many of my scans are from negatives.

The restoration is done before the image be beyond repair, therefore the information lost.
Remember that in this case, digital restoration of a copy the original is intact.
The restored copy is a back up ;)

This is a very old image of my Grandfather. I am told the vehicle was a Daimler. The image is from a scan of the negative and is circa late 1920's. Probably taken in Victoria.

This was one of my early attempts at photo restoration and was done using PSE 3.0 I'd love to give it another go, but no time at present.
