Topographic Maps of Main Range National Park

Hi All

I would put this in the bushwalking section, but I may get a response quicker here. I live really close to Mount Mistake and the stunning water falls are gushing at the moment, so I thought when the weather clears a bit to go check them out. Only problem is I am having trouble finding a topographic map of the area. Can any experts here point me in the right direction on where to obtain some topographic maps of Main Range National Park?

Look here and find the number of the map you want.

Then go to World Wide Maps in town to buy it. Ring and order first but they've always had any I was after.

Mark, did your work buy that A1 colour printer?

Hendrik. Carefull if coming from the North, North East of North West as access over private lands is hard to obtain. Although with you guys living local you probably know the residents. A long way round, but through Goomburra is the main access. If you are stealthy, you can go up from Laidley Gap.

Keep your eyes peeled for the Joe Blakes in the summer wet but.

No. Got let down on that one. Best we have is A3 colour. We did get an A0 B&W though.

CC, I do know most of the locals around here, so going through Laidley Gap shouldn't be a problem. I have always wanted to do this walk, there are four massive water falls up there that I can clearly see from my back varandah would be stunning to see this time of year.

The locals say its a 4hr walk up there, which doesn't sound too bad.

Was thinking about doing it this weekend if I can organise maps ect. There is an little creek that runs called Shinglehut that flows nearby that runs into the Laidley creek. I don't have a map yet, but I am certian that Shinglehut is fed by at least one of those water falls.

Will have a chat to some more locals and find out some more info, and will let you know CC. I haven't done much bushwalking since school, so would be good to have someone along with more experience.

Try talking with some of the locals or at the pub at Mulgowie as you might be able to get vehicle access closer. Also ask about the log chute that the old cedar getters used up that way.

Go to the govt. shop at Wooloongabba. Behind the bus station between Stanley & Vulture Sts.
