Hello all,
Just trying to change the rear pads on the Mrs' Barina. Having some issues getting the pistons to go back into the calliper. It looked like it might be one of the ones you have to screw back in but that doesn't work. Has a kind of Maltese cross shape on the end of the piston.
Does anyone have any tips before I just go and apply more force?
Cheers,
Glen.

If it doesn't have a separate handbrake assembly (drum in disc) then you will definitely have to rotate the pistons as you push them back. Sometimes it will be easier to disconnect the handbrake cable from the other side of the pistin as well.

Like Bigjon says, it also helps to press them a little while rotating. Be careful to check which way they rotate, if you go the wrong way they can wind off the end of the thread. USUALLY they are clockwise, but some vehicles have clockwise on one side, and anticlockwise on the other:mad: just to make it interesting.
I use a big pair of Multigrips to press the piston while rotating it with another pair.

I just checked with the other half, he has had two barinas in the past (bought cheap, fixed, turned around for $$$)
He said - you have to push and turn, turn to the right to wind in, the left to wind out. But don't just push it because you'll **** it. (break it) Normal thread on the piston
