Queensland Air Museum has acquired, thorugh the generosity of a charitable trust, a Wirraway - the real deal !

If you are in the vicinity of Caloundra at the approrpiate time, you can see it arrive - by air ! Yes, thsi will be the first aircraft ever to be delivered to us under its own power. :D

Has the museum changed its policy on all exhibits being static non flying?

Make sure you get there to see it land. There is nothing like the sound of those big old radial engines. I do hope it doesn't become a static exhibit and stays flying.

AFAIK sadly it's destined to be a stsic display - teh airworthioness certificate is isssued purely for the ferry flight there is too much involved financially in rebbuilding it to ongoing flying status.

good stuff,
i spent a lot of time on the first wirrabangar to get on the register, bff, when i was a bit younger.
nice to see one will live up here.
