Just been quoted $1,076 for the 40,000 service from the dealer. Holy snappin' duck ****. Must be with the solid gold filter set.

I know its a big one but what have you blokes paid for the 40,000, 60,000 services etc?

For comparison sake, I got a quote for a 45,000km service on my 2009 3.2ltr diesel Triton earlier this week - $1,000.

Sounds right, very important to have this interval done right as all trans oils etc should be changed.

Hi Guys.
When i had the 40 000 km service done on my Puma i was quoted a similar price.I took it to out local mechanic ( instead of travelling a 200km round trip and an entire day off) and they did it for half the price. I took in the service schedual of what had to be done and changed and they did all of that and a bit more.Signed off on all the documentation and only lost half of they day. They started when i arrived and had tradesman instead of apprentices do the work. Nothing against apprentices but have found with closest dealer that the work can be a little bit less than desired as there seems to be little supervision.
All minor services are done by the dealer.

$515 all up at MR in Redcliffe. The dealer's original quote was $900+, but when I said I was thinking of going elsewhere they said they could do it for $700-ish. Just goes to show how much fat must be in these costs.

Free Servicing so dont know how much it cost, in fact they never gave me the report which they usualy do so cant even look how much it should have been, will need to ask for that just in case they are hiding it from me..

Most we have paid for WK Statesman is $400 for the big 80k srvice that was actually done at 60k due to time period and that was at a Toyota dealer.

Grave dig.
What have pepole been paying for their 80k Puma services? I've been quoted around $900-1000 but one quote came in at $1,800 (though I suspect this quote is for a more comprehensive service than the others have quoted for).
On that note - I don't have access to my service manula at the moment can anyone advise what is included in the 80k service? I know its pretty comprehensive but don't think it necessarily includes a belt and/or wheel bearing service?

Other than the usual,
31. Check and top up transfer box oil
32. Renew front and rear axle oil

Had a 40,000k service done English Auto's at Tuggerah just before leaving for Cape York cost was only $450..... Gota love being out of warranty and ditching the dealer's over the top service charges.
Going back for the 50,000 in 500k's time.

If you are getting a "non-LR" service, just make sure that they are using the proper engine oil. It is not a common oil - it is a pretty unique formulation especially made for the PUMA engine with a DPF.

So according to the manual its a 'C' service that neds to be done - which is also what was done at 40k.
But methinks there must be more to it than that? Seems like even my lowest quote for the 80k is 50% higher than most people's 40k serrvices (mine included) and that's from an independent LR specialist.
Can anyone point me to a reliable source for the service specs and intervals for a Puma?
Ha ha - scratch this question, just found the Australian service schedule and there's no mention of a 'C' service in it. Amusingly it only refers to 'A' and 'B' services (plus some arduous duty guff) whereas my service manual documentation only makes mention o 'B' and 'C' services.
Bloody Land Rover, couldn't organise a two seat outhouse...
Can anyone clarify what all this crap really means?

My 40k service on my 130 puma came in at $1395. It had the full bearing repack at about $520 but I did have the option of not doing it, but it fell into the severe/arduous service so I decided to get it done due to the nature of my work and what the vehicle does on a daily basis...still pricey though..

I had a major service done on my td5 ( i know we're talking pumas here but). Full service, all oils, filters, flushed radiator, cleaned radiator & intercooler, cleaned out snorkle and airbox, replaced front cvs & axles with good second hand ones, as I want to put hd stuff in sometime soon, front rotors & pads, trailing arm and control arm bushes, transfer case seal and few other odds & ends and that set me back $2300.

How can they charge that rediculous amount of money for 45k service?
I'd hate to see what a major is going to cost.

I have to put the Tardis into Southport for it's first service (13000km) next Tuesday, Sounds like I might have to load up the credit card before I pick it up!. It will be interesting to see the bill as I just had a new Ranger serviced a few weeks ago and it only came to $380.00.

I got a reply email from land rover customer care stating that any one can carry out servicing as long as schedules are adhered to and genuine parts used. They also wrote " but if it is not serviced by the network it will not be eligible for any form of good will" what ever that means.

Thats the go.....
Been going to these guys for many years now and have never had an issue, and they use the correct fluids, etc.
I am also extremely fussy and check everything.
Usually half the price of the stealers and ,in my opinion, twice as good.
Sons Puma was there last week for the 40k service. As they did a heap of other things to the vehicle, i can't comment on how much just the service is.

Thats right, mines ben serviced by LR from new and it had a 60k service last week,$500 with tyre rotation and they found the clutch was jerky on the road test and replaced it no questions asked, can't really complain about the cost after that, ask yourself another question, would you buy one that has been dealer serviced from new or by someone else?. Oh dear! A well known in Perth (notoriuos?) independent told me very recently that "oil is oil" in a manner which suggested to me that anything will do which is the very reason lots of us won't use them.
Not in my Puma it won't "do" and I'll get the best I can for the small services which I do myself but leave the big ones to a trusted mobile man or the stealer.

Depends on the dealer, also depends in the 'someone else'.
The 'specialists' i use will pick up a warranty issue as well.
People on this site have had to go to the same 'LR specialists' to get another opinion to get the dealer to sort a warranty issue once and for all.
I am not knocking all the dealers, some, like many businesses, appear to be a lot better than others.

Hopefully the new 90 will serve as well as the old 95 130 can't see myself ever selling either.
I am a diesel mechanic and land rover had no qualms efficiently dealing with a couple of early warranty claims on the old girl and that beast has always been home serviced.

I'm not knocking indies either,I've used many over the years but people like dealer stamps in service manuals and like happened to me,the dealer fixed a problem I didn't think I had without question, its worth paying extra for. Pat
