Does anyone feel as sick in the stomach as I do about the way Australia is acting at the moment towards a T.V. show host currently out here, I feel I must have missed the point about the whole exercise, have we stooped that low we have to suck up to an overseas celebrity to " kickstart our tourist industry". It seems we have been doing this for a while ,"all the way with LB.J.", Weapons of mass destruction, etc, etc, it seems to me Wikileaks has shown we are not really treated seriously in the world, so why not just stand up for what we believe in. Having said that, years ago it seemed clear what we believed in, am I turning in to an old fuddy-duddy! :no2::lol2: :wheelchair:

I'm completely over it already - I can't believe the amount of media attention it is getting - even on the ABC. Switched over to listen to Lindy Burn on 774 this arvo to get away from it, but alas, she was also caught up in it all!
No escape for the time being it seems....

Give her some credit guys.
What Oprah is doing is actually a credit to her.
The influx of people that she will bring here not just Yanks either will be filtering through for a long time and we (australia) needs it as our overseas visitors are dwindling because our cost of living is going through the roof.
Oprah has had a very tough upbringing and i take my head off for her totally unselfish attitude.

Oprah has had a very tough upbringing and i take my head off for her totally unselfish attitude. X 2.......so far the $5mill investment has paid off in the region of $41mill in spending into our local economy. Credit where credit is due....she also puts her money where her mouth is with computers for a local school in the poorer parts and $250k to a man battling cancer since being here in Oz....plus millions more she has donated to those in need.
Forget the media and some of the hysterical "house wives" I think anyone who has risen to her status and wealth deserves a pat on the back.

Im not a big fan of her myself, i think anyone can come as far as she has from basically nothing deserves all she can muster.
I did get sick of seeing her every morning this week whilst in goulburn but I'll get over it.
I did laugh a bit that Hugh Jackman came in on a flying fox from on top of the Oprah House and when he got to the stage he hit a lighting fixture and needed stitches in his head. I like hugh Jackman but its nice to see that even the biggest production like that can still have glitches, no one is perfect after all.

Whoever set the flying fox up needs a good kick up the butt. Should never have been a possibility to hit the lights. I know it had a break and Hugh stuffed up, but still a bit like terminating on a cliff face. Would have been much better bringing it down to stage level. And BTW yes I am qualified to make that statement as I am a qualified vertical rescue instructor.;)
