Hi All

Late Monday afternoon in Parramatta we picked up our new wagon:eek::):D a white 110. I wanted a 130 but Sue wanted a wagon so we compromised and got a wagon:p. So far we only have 1100 kilometres on the clock but will have a few clocked up by Monday.

Only saw one or two defenders between Parramata and Forster but saw about four or five between Forster an Caloundra and waved.

Have t go and get some front mudflaps and then go down to dickie beach for a swim :):D

                                   Regards Mark

"Daggy looking bloke who looked like he shouldn't be there"!!!!! But I thought all Defender drovers looked daggy! I know I did when I had one... well 2 actually.
And I'll probably look even daggier next year if (when?) I get another one!:D

I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine. :)

When I ordered it I walked through the dealership past the Jags, the Volvos the Range Rovers and the Peugeots dressed in clean jeans and a T shirt. Fortunately when I asked to order a Defender the salesman didn't ask me to keep my voice down or usher me to the broom closet to wait until they'd dealt with proper customers. The salesman proudly handed over the Defender at the front door when it arrived . He still keeps in touch.

Congratulations on the new drive, hope the Puma gods have shone on you and it all happy days. It is a good time in life picking up a new car, and a Defer at that.
Must be a Defender thing that dodgy look.
I must admit I felt a bit out of place in my thongs walking past the RR's and D4's when I picked my Defer up. Oddly enough, just a week before another dealer didn't take me seriously because of my thongs, or he just doesn't return calls.

I'm looking for 8, anyone with 8000?
I had a bit over 8000km on my beautiful Stornoway Grey MY10 Puma when I wrote it off a month ago... a simple driver error tat cost me the car :( Mind you, if I'd had a snorkel it would have survived without damage... I hadn't gotten that far down the wish list on that car. That air intake is so low on the Pumas and hydraulic lock is such a nasty thing. I'll post a thread (with pics) about it when the issue isn't as raw.
Marko - congrats on your purchase! I just picked up my new white MY11 110 wagon last Friday (my 4th 110 wagon - for the record #3 is the only one I've damaged), but it beats me how you managed to clock up 1100Kms in 2 days!!! I've only managed a few hundred Kms.
That Fuji white is pretty bright, huh? I wanted Stornoway Grey again but wasn't willing to wait for an extra 3 months.
BTW - check the front of the roof gutters for paint defects... Mine had them as did another new white Puma I've seen. All getting fixed under warranty :)
In the 5 days that I've had it all I've managed to get sorted is a snorkel, cargo barrier (inc extinguishers), steering guard, front diff guard, black wing protectors, recovery points and bull bar... off to Mulgo on Friday for an ex-box then I'll be wiring accessories (UHF, Hema, worklight, winch, dual batteries etc) and getting BFG M/Ts with TMPS next week when I'm on holidays. The RTA lost my custom plates so I'm waiting for them to provide replacements.

I was wondering about Marko's location that but didn't check. Personally, I'm intent on completing the factory defined run-in doing stop/go city driving rather than freeway driving.
BTW - maybe it was a mistake, but the service period was written on the MY10's windscreen as 12,000km and on the MY11 it was written as 10,000km. 10,000 checks out with the MY11 manual. Can anyone with a MY10 or earlier Puma verify the service interval? Maybe the dealer made a mistake when they wrote 12,000 on the MY10.
Also, I had not had any issues whatsoever with the MY10 puma although 8,000 is merely a blip on the radar. Hope the same happens with the MY11.

Hi RVR110
Which side is the extinguishers on your barrier (passenger or load)?
btw I heard about your previous vehicle's demise, not a happy ending
RVR110
15th December 2010, 09:40 PM
The extinguishers are on the passenger side. If they were on the cargo side I'd never be able to access them when the back is loaded up with camp gear :)

Makes sense now I think about it, I was imagining the extinguishers being mounted vertically and getting in the way of passenger's heads :p

Thanks for all the comments:) i guess i;ll be running mine in a bit like yours DmDigital :), Bigjon I didnt know it was happening till we got to Sydney - the Eagles were awesome:) What colour is the 7000 kkm old one Gitney hope you keep having a good run:)

I run my diesels in my way and it has always served me well and getting out of Parramatta and the run up the pacific Highway is stop start isnt it:)

Sitting on the speed limit whatever it is has landed me 623 kilometres for 61 litres and yes shops in NSW still have some stock now that my wife has left the state:):D

Will have to go to supercheap and see if they have any land rover water wings to help me get home:):D

I would say so.
12000km was the service intervals for the other vehicles ion the LR range. The Defender is 10000km.

Congrats Mark, I hope you enjoy yours as much as I'm enjoying mine. I'm a bit confused over service intervals though.
For service intervals my book & sticker says 20k, it's a MY11. I think I oughta stick to 10k like Scott says.

Officially, service intervals are 20000km but 10000km is advised.
If it's on a Corporate Plan, LR do a 10000km Health Check which does not involve an oil/filter change but, if it were my car I'd be doing an oil change every 10000km. Most customers do the same, given the choice.

Welcome to the club!
I do an oil change every 10,000km because of the poor quality of the diesel in SA. If your diesel is good, there should be no need to.
if you do lots of gravel/off-road driving, then an 10Kkm oil change is also recommended

:)Hi All

In a few hours the puma will be a week old :) with 4673 kilometres under the belt, a service call completed, and a roo laid to rest:(

On Friday we filled up in Caloundra and drove up to Rockhampton to fill again. Headed out of Rocky and stayed half the night on the ranges - it started raining and we didnt want to get the swag too wet:).

After a minor misshap in Longreach that soaked up about two hours (ok i'm an idiot ) we got going and got to Mount Isa and stayed the night, then we took off for home and got home about 11.30pm.

Bad points as the car is mostly good it's easier to list the bad points, the radio - lucky its not handheld as you could walk out of range :) the speed limiter well it just sucks if you want to sit on 130, the seat reclining handle that's come off and the lack of paint on the bottom of the back doors and the back windows coming down on their own.

All in all a good trip and happy to have such a nice vehicle will have to sort out some of the other stuff.

             Regards Mark

Hi mark,
Just a quick one about the radio. We just did a bit of a trip down to vic and back and were cursing the radio for the first half of the trip because we couldn't search for any stations, and it wouldn't even pick one up that we were just listening too, and crazilly enough i got out the manual for it... 15 or so hours into the journey :) and if you press and hold the main volume button down for five or so seconds you get into a second set of menu options and you can change the area your in to aisa pac, and a few other things and after that it can search no probs and find stations. I don't remember exactly what it was i changed but it was pretty simple one you get into that second set of menu options.
Cheers,
Chris

Speed limiter shouldn't have been an issue in the first week, you're breaking it in gently. We didn't get to 100kph for most of the trip back from Melbourne to Gove in our's.
As for the back windows... it's a Defender:rolleyes: they all do that. The seat recliners should push on enough not to fall off, if they won't then a dob of Sikaflex on the edge of the bar will hold it in place.

Forgot to mention with the windows check the winder handle position is at the lowest point when the window is fully up. This doesn't fix it but it helps. I've been trying to work out a rubber strap or something to keep a slight tension on the handles in the Defenders. I know this sounds wrong, but it would have been nice if they had made the rear door windows electric as well as the front ones. Then they would have stayed up. The front and rear windows in my Tdi all work themselves down too.
