View Full Version : After-market mud flaps

I've noticed a few folk referring to their desire to ditch the LR mud flaps before (or after!) they get torn off - well, I replaced mine a couple of months back, after tearing a front one off, and thought I'd post a few pics to give some ideas.
If my memory is correct these are "unbranded" OL flaps (you can get the ones that advertise their name, if you prefer) and were fitted using 2 of the original buttons and one new screw. They seem to give much better cover than the originals, and have stood up to some severe torture without coming adrift - so might be an option for those wanting to switch. Again, from memory it cost me about $150 all up (I was flat out with work, so had them fitted ) - think the set of 4 were about $70 to buy.

Apologies for not cleaning 'em before taking pics - but hey, at least its been out in the mud! :)

Thanks Jesse. Not only do these look more purposeful that the L/R factory mud flaps, but I think they even look better.
When I've lost/broken/split one of my 4 factory style flaps I'll take your advice and get some from OL.
That should be.....end 1st week Jan'11 on return from VHC!!!

They look to be much more substantial than the ones I fitted which have curled badly.

I bought them from a local 4wd place here in Albany - they did the fitting too. Checked my invoice and they did not list the brand, and they're closed now for the weekend. Will confirm brand next week - but reflecting on it, I think my original call may well be wrong and they're from ORE. On checking the invoice I also discovered I'd had some other work done at the same time, which is why it tallied $160 - thought that was too much for just the flaps & fitting! More holes in my memory than in your average cheese grater :(

Hey Preacher - what happened to your reading glasses?? I said "Albany" - not Albury! Crikey - you Vics are so damned eastern-centric... Next thing we know you'll be claiming Mike Hussey as one of your own (just because we lent you his bro for a few years!). Albany = small town on south coast of WA. Definitely too far to go for a set of flaps, no matter how good they might be. Unless you like driving your Disco loooooong distances that is! :D

O.R.E. is where you get them from , comes in 3 styles , plain , 4 x 4 lettering and ORE lettering $38 a pair ? zactly the same as the ones in Jesse's photos . (but alas , I think ORE are a Perth based outfit ) Thats the Perth in WA , not the one in Tassie .!!!!!!!! LOL

If you get some and fit them yourself, dont rely on the old mudflap holes being the same on both sides..Did mine and the old rear flap holes are about 15mm different from pass to driver side...Maybe its just mine, but I couldn't use the existing holes on the drivers side as I did on the pass side.
Looks good tho compared to no or half a mudflap..
Cheers Ean
