quick question for td5 motor, when refitting the water pump should there be any gasket goo or even a gasket be used??

unless the metal faces are machined perfectly, which i doubt, then i would say most likely... im yet to do mine, but i would imagine there would have to be a gasket.
usually anything containing a fluid will have a gasket.

should have 3 orings according to the parts breakdown.

Doing mine tommorow.
All O ring sealed.
Will only be using a smear of rubber grease.

thanks, can't be 100% sure but have an intermittant leak of coolant from the area of the water pump which when replaced recently seems goop was used in the refit (red stuff).
only appears to leak when cooling down as only find evidence in the morning after it sits overnight. :(
might check all the bolts are tight otherwise will have to get the mech out to sort it.

When the fuel cooler O rings fail,they only leak when the engine cools.
You may have a badly sealed or failing O ring in the waterpump.
