Just in case this saves you some hair pulling.
I have an SVX but this could happen to any Puma.
At about 20,000 kms the engine light came on and intermittent low power, no boost, get home only.
Very intermittent. The shop had a know fault requiring a software update to the engine management unit.
This only solved the problem for a few days.
Long story short, after several days testing and getting frustrated they found the fault.
The wiring harness from the engine management unit to I think the air flow meter was too short and the routing placed too much strain and then chafing of the harness. The fix is a small extension which was duly supplied, but the harness was too damaged and that needed replacing too.
This is the only real fault with the car at all, though I have noticed a small weep of oil from the drive rear diff input shaft seal. Being replaced next at routine service.
I have gone over the car and found nothing else, and noting the problems some others have reported, I have to say I have been very happy.
The only mods are:
1) bull bar, modified freebie from 1990 model;
2) winch,
3) HID driving lights and HID replacements to the standard mains, and the standard spots.
4) UHF CB and front mount antenna.
This is in deed my favorite vehicle. I bought it at for the same price as a standard model, end of financial year desperation and got 3 years free servicing.
Cheers, Tony
