Had a customer vehicle with a MY2011 Defender in my workshop the other day. ABS module does not seem to be under the driver seat anymore...

Could not locate it in the engine bay.

Does anybody know where this module now is? Or is it integrated in the ECU?

Thanks.

Daniel

you sure they just didn't forget to fit it...I think ABS might be an option in the UK :D

Don't know if this will help Mulgo but I believe the ABS has changed from a Siemens unit to a Bosch one in MY2011 Defenders. While not relevant to your question, the change in ABS unit has the effect of making Traction Control operate across all four wheels at once as opposed to the front and rear TC operating independantly as in earlier Puma Defenders.

Don't want to play with it at all. Just want to know where it is located.

Don't know, but you might be referring to the ECU which is located at the firewall in the engine bay.

Cheers,
Daniel

Thanks Karl for the info. Will be looking for a Bosch unit next time.

Was it a 130? If so they don't come with ABS. Well the MY10 doesn't.

Hi newhue, It was a 110 wagon (mine). It definitely has ABS... somewhere. When compared to the MY10 the MY11 has less components under the drivers seat.

the one bolted to the fire wall is the engine,

the ecu for the abs is actuly part of the module in the same spot as last next to the booster,

Thanks for that. That confirms what I thought. The module next to the booster looks different to the MY10 model.

ABS is an option on the 90 & 110 and not available for the 130.

The box of tricks, inside the engine bay & nailed to the top of the bulkhead, is the main ECU. ;)

All Defender 90 and 110 Station Wagons currently imported into Australia have ABS as standard. Optional on all other 110s imported, but like in the UK, not available on 130s.

All Defenders imported into Australia have a perimetric alarm system with immobiliser, as standard fitment.
