As promised here are a few screen shots of our online store :) I've been working on it for months so I hope it isn't a disappointment!

1. Product Listing. All items are categorised or can be search for using part number, key word or manufacturer.
2. Customers can create an online account with us and log in securely
3. 'Cart' screen - lists all the items you have added to your cart whilst browsing. If you add them before logging in the cart will merge with your client shopping cart.
4. Check out screen - Gives options for shipping address, postage options, allows for comments to be added etc. The checkout process will then give you the option of paypal (for credit and debit cards), bank deposit (internet/cash/cheque) or cash on delivery (for WA delivery clients only). We use Paypal to protect the client and LSD - we are not able to access your credit card details in any form and you're protected by the paypal secured gateway. You don't need a paypal account to use their gateway and there is no additional cost to you.
5. Client log in menu - allows you to review past orders, update file address, sign up to our newletter etc.
If there appears to be anything 'wrong' please let me know! I know the pictures are quite small but they give you a rough idea :)
We look forward to announcing our official launch date shortly

dont forget to setup commonly purchased items as a group option.
people who want rotors usually want pads.
people who want an air filter usually also want an oil/fuel filter.
if you set it up with a product drill in when they pick an oil filter (or any other item thats part of the group) under the normal product listing and cost is the check box thats written up something like
"this product XYZ is also a part of This service kit ABC which also contains parts DEF 123 and omg and saves $X on the individual purchase price of those items"
did you wish to purchase just (radio button one Default)the item or (radio button 2) the kit?

remember to it simple ,keep it stupid. The punters hate trolling through loads of pages, remember not everyone has high speed broadband. Lots of stuff to load on a page ie graphics etc will make people look elsewhere. Often too much bling is the pride and joy of the creator but too much will turn people away.Remember a person buying on line is often not in the city, if they have a slow connection or using a lap top with a USB modem then slow loading ,they will go elsewhere.

a very good point you make. I have kept the same graphic set for the whole website (eg. the logo, the banner, the buttons down the side etc) this way once you load the page once you should have a temp file that your computer can refer to rather than having to download lots of large new images on every page. All the image files are small and are split (eg. the banner with the 'love your rover' text is three smaller files rather than one large chunk)
The search tool on the page works very well so if you know what you're looking for (and provided I haven't made a spelling blunder) you should be able to view the image and description of your desired item pretty quickly.
I trialled the website using dialup as well to see how long the load time was and it came up fairly quickly, no slower than any of the websites I compared it to. A whole lot quicker than yahoo or ninemsn! So I hope we've got it under control in this area :)
Thanks so much for the feedback!

we're looking at February for the "official" launch, approximately 6 weeks. We've got a few promotional ideas up our sleeve and want to make sure we can deliver.
We're also hoping that the worst of the UK weather will be gone by that point so we don't face any airfreight delays on special orders.
That said, our supplier is back at work as of Tuesday evening our time (WA) so we can still order what you need before the shop is live :) Feel free to flick me a PM or an email (sarah@lsdautomotive.com) and I'll see what we can do!

Our suppliers can source for all LR vehicles :) Provided the items are still available for purchase in the UK then we have a shot. I can't promise that everything will be available but whatever we can find a part number for we can provide a quote. This way you can get a costing for comparison purposes :)

Sorted :) Anything on back order comes up with a red warning once added to cart so the buyer is aware it will be shipped upon request before they complete the purchase :)

How much coding work have you done to customise the pages Sarah?

too much? :p I couldn't really say now - the days began to blur together. But that said I didn't know the code prior to trying to implement it so I am sure I went the longest and silliest way about changing everything.
