In the beginning - I was working on the original Series II (Registration at last (http://greenacre.biz/landrover/975_rego/975_rego.htm)) when an ex-neighbour stopped to have a look. After chatting for a while, he offered me a Series IIA LWB which had been sitting in the paddock of his property up by Gloucester for the last 10 years.

Today, we went up there and picked it up - photo attached, more to follow when I update my web site.

It looks to be an interesting vehicle. Word-of-mouth says it was used in the Snowy scheme, hence the grey paint.

PMC body number is LRL24025, serial 10924025. Chassis is 34707603G. Anything which can be added to this would be welcome.

The chassis and firewall are in better than average condition. There are a million minor mods all over the vehicle. Check out the picture - there's a tap on the inside of the passenger guard. It comes from a tank inside the guard, through which the exhaust pipe has been routed - instant hot water :)

It's got an original six, with an SU carb.

(A small aside - my son just came in and told me he had picked up a leech while at the property - lovely stuff, blood all over his leg)

Now I don't know what to do. The original story was that the vehicle was full of rust, and I assumed it would become a donor vehicle for the general community. However, it's eminently suitable for a ground-up restoration.

OTOH, I know now how much a restoration costs. We just bought a brand new Mazda 3, and it cost less than the Series II has cost me. Not to mention the two years of work that went into it, and the work-in-progress sitting just outside the front door getting in the way.

Any ideas?

Peter
