View Full Version : Front Spring Question

My 107 is a bit of a bitsa and I suspect it may have series two axles under it. When I was pulling out the front springs this arvo I noticed that my front springs fit at the front mounts but at the back some inventive soul has decided that they needed to put a couple of large nuts between the bushes and the shackles.
Now I'm assuming that this is not how the factory intended so I'd like to know what bits are wrong, the front shackles, the springs or a combination of both.
I've got an 86" parts vehicle, are the front springs the same between the 86 and 107?

Hi Tote
Your springs looks to be correct, all landies had 2.5" springs from 54 till the end of production.
The back of the front springs are wider than the springs so the inner shackle should have an offset spacer on the end that attached to the spring, it looks like a PO has used the shackle off the back and used a nut as the spacer.
The rear spring hangers are different because they mount on the bottom and dont need the offset spacer.
I hope this helps.

As indicated. All springs from 1954 on are at least interchangeable if not identical (front and rear respectively) but with different numbers of leaves and camber. Front 86/88/107/109 are the same except for diesels.

The front spring shackles have a boss on the inside to make up the difference between the spring width and the chassis width. The one shown has used a nut to replace this boss.
