Hello folks,

After 10 years without a Land Rover I have just bought a 2004 D2 TD5

I have a small problem though...

It is currently at a reputable car stereo mob in Sydney getting a roof mounted DVD fitted. (I have 4 kids)

They are saying "It can't be done. Nothing to mount it to"

The RAVE CD mentions a cross member.

Anyone done it themselves?

Thanks very much

Greg

Greg

I have a D2 2003 with a Land Rover DVD player fitted. From what I understand there two places on the ceiling to install a DVD. One at the very front above the revision mirror and the second is in the centre above two front seats (near the headrests).

Not sure of the process for non LR DVD players but can't be too hard.

Regards
Andrew

You dont happen to have a part number on it do you???
I have been looking for one of these for mine so I can transfer all the Alpine gear out of the RRC.

The rave CD is good for ideas and pointers if your fitting nonLR player.

It can be done, I have done it with a player from ebay.
Problem is the step in the roof liner is a hinderance.
You need to decide if u wish to bridge the gap and ignore a little free space, or built a custom base for it that moulds to the step.

I actually used a peice a timber to frame inside the roof space onto the cross member, and then mounted the dvd player to the wood inside.
Cause the crossmember wasnt in the right place for my dvd player mounting holes.

Andrew & Greg

I have attached some more photos of the DVD player installed.

Not sure of the part number though. There is a model number but couldn't find anything on the web.

Thanks mate. I might actually go against my ideals and see if TRS have one available..... as much as I hate dealing with them.
Alternative is to make one I suppose now I can see the shape of it and how it hangs.

Cheers

I saw a 19" screen going into a D1 at an installer. Not only was the pivoting mech a work of art (it retracted back above the step) but it sat on the same angle as the step and if you were under 6' then you could still see enough out the back. They fitted a bar across the roof under the lining in 2 places. They said they mounted it onto extensions between the two tabs that hold the grab handles.

True, that is number provided in Micorcat but unfortunately the diagram looks nothing like the one I have installed in my Disco. (Also mine is a Land Rover DVD Player so not sure what's the go).

Photos attached in earlier post of what mine looks like and the one shown in Micorcat can be purchased on Ebay from the USA.
