It looks like the stromberg that was on my EH Holden, it was a red 179.

Thats why I asked, looks like an earlier version of the 186 carbie.

I don't think it's a Stromberg, the float chamber on the side looks Stromberg-ish, but the fuel inlet is a bango fitting on top of the float chamber, not a brass fitting on the side.

I've got a Stromberg BXOV on the 2.25 motor, and these carbies don't match.

It came out of the back of a paddock find Series IIa. I suspect it's not Land Rover related at all, but it would still be nice to know.

Thanks, Peter

I can confirm it is not a carburetter ever fitted to any Landrover - but I have no clue as to what it is!

Looks very Japanese, probably Hitachi, from an early Nissan commercial engine maybe. Datsun Homer, 12R Toyota etc. There's a symbol on one side that's very familiar, just can't place it.

Looks like it's made by Hitachi. So it looks like it's out of one of the Japanese makes of car..
Edit: Most probably out of a Nissan.

That's because the Symbol is a Hitachi logo.
