I've just returned from inspecting a second hand single cab version of the Carry Me Camper (Candy Canvas :: Home (http://www.candycanvas.com.au)). My 130 (http://www.aulro.com/afvb/members-rides/120052-towe0609s-130-dual-cab-jaffa.html) has an existing 1900mm long Aluminium Tray. The existing tray (ignoring the storage boxes on top which would be cut off) is tiered, it is 100mm higher at the front end, with a step. The (latest) plan is to build up the read end by 100mm (perhaps creating some flat storage space underneath) to make the tray level, and then put the Carry Me Camper unit on it.
The Carry Me Camper is a standard single cab model, in good condition (some minor surface rust on the base 'runners', and very minor wear in canvas) with the only 'optional extra' being a fridge slide (no fridge). All original equip (poles, ladder, jacks etc) inclusive. I can get the unit for $4k. What do you think? Is that a reasonable price?
How will I go with the length? 2100 on a 1900 tray? It appears that you could use the 'runners' along the base of the camper box to create an alternative mounting point to the tray so it could be mounted at the existing rear of the tray, with 200mm overhang. I'd obviously take care to store heavy items over rear axle. Is it problematic that the tail lights/number plate would be set back 200mm underneath the box? Seeing them would only be obscured if virtually overhead.
Anyone put a single cab carry me camper unit or equivalent on a dual cab 130? What has been the experience?
Anyone got a carry me camper unit with the 'original' Candy Canvas jack storage compartment (as per http://www.candycanvas.com.au/Options.php)? Any chance you could measure the internal dimensions for me?
Cheers for now.
