I opened Motor Magazine and noted a big advert on page two for the above Qld aftermarket Tuning company. They are quoting 219kw and 740nm for tune upgrade for the 3.0l.....anyone visited them? I've emailed asking details and quote.

Thems big figures. DP Chip quote 200Kw and around 640Nm.
You would have to wonder what sort of effect such high output figures would have on the engine.

I know these sorts of figures are possible with the 3.0L but most tuning companies don't go this high due to risk.

Their website quotes for upgrade to 2.7L TDV6 from 140Kw 439Nm to 171Kw 510Nm as well. Impressive.
You'd have to assume that increases like these don't just come from just chip / computer tuning. Hardware is likely to be involved - intercooler, turbo, exhaust ..... Let us know what you find out.

IIRC the high performance Jag version produces around 210 kw although only the LR version's torque.

I enquired here in Perth - something like $2500

The power output quoted is around the same as the Jag (202Kw for the Jag), but the torque figure is huge (the jags are the same as the std D4 - 600Nm)!

Gordon

Why would you want to risk your D4 3.0's engine and warranty by tuning it for even more power? Is someone drag-racing with a twin-axle caravan?

As Gordon mentioned, the 3.0Lt motor is the same as the Jag, but de-tuned. Can't see a problem with bringing the power up to the same spec as the Jag, however I'm not sure about squeezing 740Nm of torque out of it.
Prior to having my D4, I had a power upgrade done on my D3 2.7Lt by Ritter Landrover in Melbourne. Very pleased with the extra power & torque for towing and felt more comfortable having it done through a Landrover dealer.
Quite happy with the power & torque from my D4 3.0Lt, but boys will be boys and it may be something that I play around with down the track.

Cheers, Craig.

The boy racers in us always want more power.

My D4 I will leave the power as is. I am more than happy with its performance. We are doing the Savannah Way this year and reliability from the drive-train is more important than grunt.

However I do have a Mini Cooper S Clubman and I am tempted to add a bit more grunt and upgraded brakes to it.

Hi Craig,

I was interested to read that you had the power upgrade from your local LR dealer. Can you supply details? I have a 2.7TD Disco 4 and would much prefer if my local LR would offer the same service here in Perth. With the info I can give them a call or maybe get them to contact your guys in Melbourne?

Thanks,
David

Hi David,
It was Ritter Melbourne that did the upgrade, not ULR Malvern that I brought the vehicle through (D3). To be honest, I'm not sure whether they sell new vehicles, however they do sell second hand and do servicing etc.
This is a link to them RITTER Land Rover & Range Rover Service, Parts, Sales, Wrecking (http://www.ritter.com.au/)
