I have 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 and have been having the asme recurring problem for the past 6 months. Out of the blue, the doors will unlock, hazards come one and the door open light will appear. The car continues to operate however the air con stop working. If the car is turned off while in this fault mode it will not start.

Through trial and error i have found that bashing the top of the dash or slamming shut the glove box will turn the fault off. I have had the car looked at 3 times (Landver and LR Specialist) and they have said there are signs of corrosion of the wires behind the dash so they have re tightened all of the wiring harnesses. This seems to help and the problem in the short term (a month) and then come back, and get progressively worse.

I have also noticed, when the car gets hot, the fault is more frequent.

At my wits end, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Can the inertia switch be disabled?

Love the car, but ready to trade in for Jap out of pure frustration.

There is a front impact sensor behind the left headlight assembly, just below the radiator and washer bottles. It might be worthwhile checking its connections but as it is part of the SRS system, certain precautions might be necessary.

Edit: Ah, I see there are 2 front sensors and 2 door/side impact sensors for each front door! Maybe nothing to do with your fault.

Check the wiring for the 2 front doors to the the body, sometimes they come adrift from the clip that holds them on to the body work & chafe on the doors.
Also check the CJB connections for the door locking system. May have a swollen connector in a certain pin.

HTH.
