Just wondering if you had any thoughts about the current LR sale, 39K seems like a steal for a new Defender, why are LR pushing them out?

On the fence, I just dont want to dive in only to see 2012 Defenders appear!

The rise and rise of the Aust dollar is probably pushing things along as well if you look at most imported vehicles they are doing various deals price realignments (prices and never reduced) or offering a bunch of options/accessories at no extra charge.

49990 on road for a stock standard 110 without metallic paint. Add an extra 900 for metallic.

All the 90,s are 39990 at the moment. But same thing goes for metallic paint I think.

Also have been offered a black 7 seater option (110) for the same dollars.

Looks like a good time to be in the market !!

Good point the £ was worth A$2.3 a year or so ago but now is A$1.65
That makes a hell of a difference to the price

All the 90's that are at this offer price are stock items, LRA need to off load them, so they themselfs are covering the discount not the dealers.

Theres no options either they come as they are....

Nic,

Project Icon (secret name for Defender replacement) is still a good way off. Debatable if it will be launched before 2013 and that will be at one of the major motor shows. 6 to 9 months for production to kick in, and then you have to ask yourself whether you want one of the very first ones as we all know Land Rover R&D is based on warranty work!:D

Unless someone knows different, it's almost certain a Defender you buy now will be out of standard warranty before the new vehicle is available. Link to Aulro tread.

Sounds by that article we will have all discovery type vehicles in the land rover line up.air springs,independent suspension?I don't understand why cant they keep just one basic model?it is the only reason I would never buy a late disco the total overcomplexity.obviously the sheer market wants it.even the new patrol is a real worry of things to come.could a 300tdi be an investment for the future?ha

We just put a deposit on a 90 yesterday for $39990, plus a few extras. The dealer said he'd sold 5 in the last two days. They're flying out the door.

I did not take up the option but surely someone will. I think it was Trivetts, and the sales guy was good, but as i was talking to about 7 different dealers it is now all a blur. The bloke said he had one coming just after Feb but if you ordered it now it would still be classified under the sale so the discount applied.

BTW recently put the deposit down for mine :D:cool: I will be able to pick it up in a week and am just stoked on the price with accessories. I will be putting a snorkel on and adding a few little extras of my own (later some big mods like exhaust / intercooler) but just cant wait to hop in and get on the beach.............

Have been on holidays and thankfully away from the computer. The one I was offered was a 7 seat black with the upgraded rims. It was going for $50,900 I believe !! What a deal.... Its most probably not sold yet either so if anyone else is looking..............

I am sure it was Trivetts but have thrown out all the details I had kept because I chose a different color option and really didnt want the 7 seater....

Anyway, hope someone picks up the great deal. But even at the price you paid its pretty good as an on road deal.

That is 100% correct, thats where I got mine from, plus $2k for rear seats and $900 for metalic paint.

I have been looking at the Mulgo stuff and am sure that I will be doing some buying ! I love the look of all their stuff. Pitty I have spent all the hard earned on the car as the Mulgo accessories would really be a treat !

I bought a Stornway Grey Fender, no Land rover bit as the are stupid expensive, I have spoken to Mulgo and will be buy bull bar and sliders from him, ARB Snorkel, BFG KM2 and all the other bit from various places

In all honesty I am far from convinced that this is the right vehicle for me, can you imagine how long it would last if you or I took a brand new Puma some of the places we have taken our County's or Chris' cars? For a new car it looks like it has more issues than Martin Bryant. For that type of money I just don't need the hassles.

After all the home discussions were had and we agreed to get a nice little 90 for the driveway the local stealer told me they had sold out, and even the ones to arrive on the next boat were also sold out and it would be 3 months or longer depending on colour. He also mentioned that some dealers were not told of the sale until after it started....role on 2012.

Well I started ringing around last week and found that there was only one left at the dealer in Red. I went and had a look and I loved it! Red is good! Infact, I was so excited, I don't think the colour even mattered :woot::banana::burnrubber::BigThumb:
