Ricky Gervais has made a few waves with his monologue at this years Golden Globe award, maybe touched a bit to close to a few nerves I think, very funny though.

Just read an article that he got a 1hr bollocking back stage and was quite subdued after that.....
What's with that?

I think he got the bollocking because of the reason as posted above, the yanks cant take a joke, in the UK and Aus we can take the **** and laugh at ourselves, they cant over there, you laugh at others.

LOL, as above, he is far from virtually unknown. he hosted the awards last year and was a smash hit. Yeah he took it a bit to far, his shots at Robert Downy Junior might have hit below the belt. But introducing Bruce Willis as Ashton Kucha's dad was priceless.

A well known British actor/comedian. Well clearly not that well known. His movie, the Invention of Lying was great.

he also wrote and stared in the Office (the british version not the crappy US one)
he also wrote the series "extras"
and also wrote an episode for the simpsons
And I think he might even have written a couple of childrens books

yeah, the US version didnt really have much on the UK version, Steve Carrel is funny, but he isnt anything like Ricky Gervais.
