I've got an ex-Stage1 LT95 that's currently being rebuilt to go into my County 110(with a 4bd1).
I know that the 110 handbrake drum was much larger than the Stage1/RR one.
Is it just a larger drum and backing plate on the 110, or a completely different output/speedo housing?
The shoes are stuffed on both the boxes that I have, so I'm trying to weigh up my options. New shoes, or swap to the bigger 110 drum (if possible), or maybe even go sick and get a x-brake disc conversion.

The Counties have a different speedo housing.I'm told by a mate that bought one that the X brake requires the County speedo housing.

Thought that might be the case.
Just been having a read of the X-Eng site and it does say you need the 110 housing.
Looks like it will probably just be a new set of shoes then..
Wonder how hard it would be to make up a brake using a rear disc caliper off something like an early Nissan sedan :angel:

I am still baffled at how a disc handbrake within the available lever travel and without power assist can be more effective than a drum type, because they don't have the self servo action of a drum unit. But work they do, at least the X brake does. I tried fitting a rear disc and caliper from a Fiat to a CJ6 Jeep t/case many years ago, and it didn't grip for nuts.

Because the drum don't fill with oil on a disc setup:D

Tractors have''wet'' oil filled brakes! Perhaps the LandRover engineers didn't fully grasp the principal.:)

Not quite right. I LOVE spending money (just hate running out of it - and theres not enough for all the goodies) :D
But yes...$500...Intercooler or handbrake...hard decision
In the meantime the least oily of the shoes are doing time in a tin of petrol before being introduced to Mr Match
Need to track down a LT95 110 speedo housing to give me more options.

Intercooler first if its either/or;)

The stage 1 housing is different to 110? same as RR then?

Good luck, they are a rare item

Yeah - think they are same as RR. The speedo drive gear is different though. RR is 10 teeth, stage1 is 12 teeth, not sure about the 110.
Didn't realise the housings were that rare. Guess it makes sense since they were only made for a couple of years.

Steve,
You can have the handbrake I use to have for my Series 2.
It never failed & I think it's still in the back yard somewhere.
Looks like this.
