I've started to dig further into the guts of my recent acquisition (Land Rover Restoration ? the second time around (http://www.greenacre.biz/landrover2/index.htm)) and have found 2 SU fuel pumps installed. They appear to be the standard SU AZX 1500 pumps.

They are mounted in parallel i.e. the output of both goes to the fuel filter, the first inlet on both comes from the primary tank, and the second inlet on both comes from the secondary tank. There's a switch on the dash labelled First Fuel Pump and Second Fuel Pump, so I assume they have been put in like this for redundancy.

I have applied power to both of them, and neither of them does anything.

My inclination is to install an after-market pump - I can get one for GBP38 by return shipment. I'm pretty sure I couldn't get either of them going for twice that, even after I include shipping.

The price for a replacement SU from SU is GBP170 plus GBP25 shipping (Fuel Pump Electronic - Dual Polarity Spares | SU - The SU Carburetter Company (http://www.sucarb.co.uk/SUpumpClassic.aspx?ProductId=26734)).

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks, Peter
