I'm on the lookout for a decent Disco for the wife to match my Defender. It looks the goods, depending on what it goes for, but too far for me to have a look.
Anybody here seen it by any chance?
Also, if anyone else is willing and able to have a look for me, it would be appreciated.

Have a quick search on here, there was another thread with that link.
Looks like a pretty good deal to me.Bit of fruit to go with it too.

A 'YA2*****' VIN is actually still 2000MY spec, will have a non flash ECU and early engine / trans management. It has rear A/C, and the interior on these is quite nice. Should be a good buy with all the bits and low KMs.

Is that a good thing? I dunno much about Discos!

Probably no CDL & maybe no internals in T/C to fit it if you want. You probably don't need it if you have the deefer. They still go pretty well without CDL.
The ECU is harder to chip,i think, but not impossible if you want to.
It is also first of the D2's,same spec as '99

It isn't really a biggy, just that if chipping, the fuel map will be less aggressive to allow for the early auto trans ECU torque protection of 350Nm. The later NNN flash ECU in mid to late 1A VIN (2001/2002 on) has a different trans ECU also that allows for a more aggressive mapping, 400Nm and above.
Also, the shift software and engine software from factory is smoother and more driveable in the later ones in my opinion.

Does having 2 small gear changers give any indication of CDL?
Probably too far away, and too late in the game for me anyway methinks. I'll keep looking.

by the look of the interior photo it looks as if someone has put a second gear shift next to the hi/low range, which i would suspect could only be the cdl shifter

Why would someone install a cdl link with an extra lever? My understanding was that the early D2's had the linkage and internals ready to go, but not the correct lever/wiring setup. Is this correct?
Seems strange to have two levers when all others I've seen have the one.

There is a kit available to activate the CDL, with a second lever. Not a bad idea, and apparently easy to fit too.
All D2 up until mid 2001 had the internals etc, and deleted until 2003 when they reinstated it completely from factory.

Thanks mate. So when you say internals for pre 01 models. Is it all sitting in there ready to work, but the lever in the cabin physically won't move due to its mounting plate, or does it still require a kit in order to make it work.
Sorry for the thread hijack.

Sully, the internal mechanism etc is there in the transfer case ready to connect, but you can't use the original low- hi lever to activate, as it is a different design to the D1, it is cable operated. The second lever kit is very neat, I don't know where they are available from but I would certainly try and get one of those.
