This is the official Show Us thread.
Only photos of D3/D4/RRS should be posted here.

Hey RMP thanks again for putting up the D3/4/RRS sticky,
It looks like most of the D3/4 owners have unfortunately taken the one line about the thread only being for photo's to literally.
I would imagine most other members like me who are interested in checking out our fellow AULRO members D3/4's would like to hear more detail about any mod's your vehicles have or plans for the near future.
Just a thought...
cheers,
Terry

That wasn't the whole quote, it reads:
This is the official Show Us thread.
Please post here:
- 1 or more photos of your vehicle (maximum width and length 800pixels)
- specifications, descriptions, commentary
Do not post in here replies to posts. Start a new thread for that, like this one -> Comments on the 'Show Us' sticky thread (http://www.aulro.com/afvb/d3-d4-rrs/121022-comments-show-us-sticky-thread.html), so this thread is kept just for vehicle descriptions.
maybe you got to it while I was editing it.
The idea is that the owner describes the vehicle as much as they like, can be all pix or mostly words. However, the reason no replies (in thread) are permitted is because otherwise the thread will wander off topic and lose the point of being one place for a Show Us. If you want to comment on a Show Us start a new thread, until such time as there is a Comment on Thread function or similar. Same deal for the Stories. The photo limit guide is there to stop 25 similar pix and force people to choose the best, but it's a guide, if there's a good reason for say 30 pix that are relevant, maybe a process description, then go ahead. Quality over quantity.
If anyone wants to add more detail feel free to edit your post, if you can't let a mod know.
Also any more ideas are welcome. We already have the Stories, FAQ and Show Me. Quite happy to create more as users ask.

Hello RMP,
I know it wasn't the whole quote and I didn't say it was. I said that people are taking to literally that one line about only showing pictures.
I put the comment up to try and motivate the D3/4/RRS owners to be a bit more informative.
Now you have taken it down from the sticky 'Show Us' thread and the very next person just came along and put up a couple of pics with no details. When I asked for a 'Show Us' section in the D3/D4/RRS area which I have thnked you for putting up I had hoped it would be a bit like the D1/2 areas where people put all sorts of information up about their Disco's.
It is obvious that many D3/4 owners have never owned a Landy previously so chances are many of them have never checked out the other 'Show Us' stickies to see how members often take specific photo's whowing any mods and then list the various mods and what they have planned.
The other 'Show Us' stickys work very well, this new 'Show Us' sticky so far has in general turned into camping photo's of their vehicles rather then what it was meant to be.
How about some assistance here RMP to get it working the way the other 'Show Us' stickies do?
By putting my original comment down here in a weeks time this thread will be gone and there will be no reference point for people to take on board.
cheers,
Terry

Well it's meant to be a Show Us thread. If that's one photo, or 20 with detailed explanations it doesn't matter. I think the intro post is pretty clear.
Not everyone wants to provide a detailed text so they shouldn't feel they need to in order to post. Connversely I don't want anyone to feel they can't, which is what you're getting at but I'm not seeing what else I can do to encourage them.
If you'd like to provide some text I can edit the first post so everyone is suitably encouraged about detail, but I do want to keep it so that if all someone wants to do is flick up a single photo and say "here she is" then they can do that.
Keen to hear from others on this topic to gain a consensus view. If the agreement is single, simple pics aren't wanted then I'll make the changes.

Robert, when the thread was first posted, I got the impression that it was going to be mainly photos.
A place where you could look at other people's vehicles and get ideas on what to do to yours.
Just my opinion.

nudge nudge also don;t forget if you want to go into a lot of detail about your rig you could start a thread for it in the "Members Rides" forum, and byall means stick a photo and a link to that thread, here!

Hi RMP,
I agree not everyone wants to give lots of details about their vehicles and neither should they have to.
The message I was trying to get across from the start is that a 'Show Us Your D3/4/RRS' sticky is a place where people have one spot to check out the same models in one easy spot.
Members Rides is great area and that is where both my Disco's are. But if want to just see one particular model vehicle then the Members Rides section can have you trolling through pages and pages of posts often to only find several of the one particular model your looking for.
The D1/2 stickies are more like areas where people, for the want of a better term, almost show off their often standard and sometimes highly modified D1' and 2's that they are proud of to other similar owners. These are often the best areas to see what other owners do to thier particular models and they are great places to get ideas from.
I admit though sometimes they turn into open discussion areas about all sorts of stuff which is what your wanting to avoid and for good reason.
cheers,
Terry

Fair enough Terry I think we're all good. Also when I said "only D3/D4/RRS photos" I meant not photos of Series, Defenders or whatever else. Didn't mean "only photos". I wouldn't like to see many, if any posts in the thread that didn't include at least one photo.
VT - will add a link to Members' Rides, good idea, and maybe the D2 Show Us. Or you can do it ;-)
I like the way the thread is coming along. In time we may create a "Detailed Show Us" thread with a template to fill out vs just a rather simpler "Show Us".
Let's see how this one goes for a while though.
