Took the new P38 out for some off road fun (camped overnight) and here's a short film i've put together to show the difference between H/T's and M/T's...
Enjoy!

I enjoyed watching the video.
However, I am not convinced that it represents definitive proof that the second set of tyres are better for that sort of work than the first set.
It seems to me that the hill used for the test is a very good example of the sort of terrain where the right line will work and the wrong one won't. It seems to me that there is enough difference in the line taken to explain the difference in the result.
That does not mean that you are wrong. It's just that I'm not willing to accept this video as conclusive proof. :)
EDIT:
There may also be a difference in the technique used in the two attempts.

Yeah, your partially right there! I didn't get up going straight through the ruts, however I don't have video footage of the Green RR going up the same line as my blue one did (I tried in the Green one but kept slipping into the right hand rut). The other two vehicles that were with me (a 100 series and a D22) both got up going the same line that my blue RR did, but they both have A/T tyres too and they had trouble!

It looks to me as though the green rangie has had 2 goes on a very bad line whereas the blue one has taken a much less flexy line. Doesn't seem like a fair comparison. ;)

Operator error!!!
Driving line more important than the temperature of the beers in the fridge.
Nice vehicles though.:p

The TC should have got the first car through the hole. Did it cut in at all?

The ground was very loose, the traction control did practically nothing! My old man with twin lockers in his Defender walked up that with wheels in the air and not a hint of problem!
If I had my tyres at 15psi on the M/T's I probably would have had a better shot at the hard line!

We're you in low range at first attempt??

Yeah, first attempt, low 1st, second attempt low 2nd (manually locked), then in the blue range rover I used low 1st only!

There's more momentum with the blue range rover IMHO.
Momentum and even with slick tyres, you can climb anything , at least that's my 4wd instructor theory. (he's against muddy but i run higher size Km2 mainly for clearance reasons)

Surprisingly not with regards to the blue range rover! I rekon it would have been sitting no higher than 1200rpm in low 1st! It crawled up no worries!
I like the theory, I've taken my RR's off road on H/T rubber heaps of times, and I was the only one bogged on a few of the trips! Mind you, on sand I was one of 8 vehicles and 5 of them bogged and mine didn't!
