Hi all,

I am rebuilding the diffs in my 95 D1 (24 spline), changing all bearings, installing 4.12 CW&P's and ARB lockers. The ARB manual covers setting up backlash etc, but does not include details on changing the pinion, bearings, and specifically setting the bearing pre-load. Does anyone have a set-up guide for this?

Thanks in advance! :)

Stting the pinion height is alot more involved, its where the "black magic" of diff's is

You need a dolly to fit in and across the carrier bearings, some machined blocks of known lenght, feeler gauges, a range of shims for unfer the inner pinion bearing, then some for the bearing preload on the pinion, atleast a decent punch for knocking the out races in and out

Who's ring and pinions? some aren't marked with a height, which necessitates the full assembly, then doing a contact check, then correcting the contacts errors....which is really dumb ass, as they should be able to supply the measurements when ring and pinion are lapped (matched) together

Oh, you'll also need a torque wrench, loctite, bearing blue, mag based dial indicator

Thanks for the reply! :)

CW & P's are from Ashcrofts and are marked as matched pairs eg. "2583" is marked on the rear CW&P.

I have some of the tools, such as mag based dial indicator, but don't have a decent surface table, dolly or machined blocks and slips :(

I've had a quote from MR Auto in Brisbane to setup both front and rear for $570, and another quote for $700 at Nerrang Diffs. I was happy to take them to MR, but they said they couldn't have them done until Feb 17th!! :(
