Just a PSA ;) Valentines Day is this month, the 14th.

Your annual chance to pay for overpriced flowers and waistband-expanding chocolates and prove how much you love her:angel:

Or suffer the consequences

Thanks for the reminder Sarah. SHMBO was dropping hints the other day, and I didn't get them - I'm in the bad books already...

I wonder how I would go if I bought her something shiny... for the Rangie...:D

Maybe I'll just stick to the flowers & chocky idea...

thanks for the calendar, it went up on the weekend in the outhouse, and this morning on the way to work I got asked what a bowler wildcat was and then told I couldn't have one as it wouldn't be as economical as the P38 to run :)

Valentines day.....hmmmmm scary.......

Since when has it become a one way affair?
A bit like anniversaries, they also seem to have been claimed as a female only affair, regardless of the fact that both parties got married on the same day.
I will probably get her the same as she gets me, nothing, although we will probably go out for a meal. This way, she doesn't have to cook and I don't have to wash up.
Regards
Glen

you shouldn't need a particular day of the year to tell her you love her

years ago when I lived in the UK, a good mate made it there from another country. Him, his Girlfriend, me and my wife (at the time) arrange to go out for dinner. it was feb the 14th. we went to the local chineese, it was full of couples, and us four. we talked cars, motorbikes (three of us rode / two raced) and drank - a bit too much - all four of us
I remember getting a 'look' from one bloke - I think he was UTT!
we went out for dinner, it didnt happen often due to rostering etc, happened to be that night, we had a ball

It isn't in my house :p I've plans for him but I don't need reminding!

I'll be happy if he even remembers to be honest...he forgot our anniversary :bat:

I'm not really into the showering with flowers and chocolates and heart shaped everything...just a little extra appreciation is enough. Or in our house changing a few more of the boy's nappies would be bloody romantic :D

How can I forget Valentines Day? SWMBO has her Birthday on the same day.
Double the Flowers, Chockies and a decent store bought meal with wine etc.
But what the heck, I love her to bits.

Bah... Valentines day. Been with the current lovely partner for almost 7 years now (fiance now!) And not once have either of us ever celebrated, let alone really acknowledged the day. Would almost be a deal breaker if either of us made a fuss of it!!

It's just another day in the year. Every day is a good day to let the other half know what they mean to you, you never know what tomorrow will bring, so may as well make the most of today.

Amusingly, I live in Perth at the moment, her in Newcastle NSW, and I will be in Victoria on the 14th Feb this year, and her house the 15th, it wasn't intentional to miss it by a day, but nor do either of us care!

in 2000 we were deployed to east timor leaving adelaide at 0500 on 14-2-00! That meant getting there just after 4am, and our firstborn was only 9 months old...so was a bit of a downer!!

stick valentines day where it fits.

i didn't get married to send mr valentine money every year for over priced bits of paper with writing on it.

no, her indoors will get the same as always,

nothing,

and in return i will also get nothing on the day

unless we have a passion moment:eek:

it has saved us a substantial amount over the last 35 years,
which we have squandered away in other ways,
without throwing money at the newsagency for a friggen card.

and now to mothers day, fathers day, etc.

scrooge, over and out.

I might have to do something this year. I proved I couldn't remeer our aniversary date earlier this week when I asked why the 15 of march was out for bub's arrival . Then the fact that I keep sujesting we name this one alfred E seams to not go down to well, guess she isn't in favour of mad magazine .

My normal response over not buying flowers is to give me the last bit of jewlery I bought back and I will trade it in on flowers.

I don't think it needs (or ought) to be expensive at all...the same as Christmas, Easter, whatever else the retail industry likes to cling onto.

Just needs to be personal and meaningful. Go pick a single flower from your neighbours yard, knock on the door when you get home and give her a kiss when she answers- that's romantic...
mm the lack of a Y chromosome seems to be showing. ;)

It hasn't even been and local w'worths has pulled the decorations and was installing easter yesterday. At least she's away for work for the week so by the time I need to buy I can get the left over discounts.

when we were growing carnations as a very good side line and that special day was a winner i would save her a bunch but she didnt seem to go for it , dont know why they were fresh :( i guess picking and bunching 4 or 5 hundred bunches over a 2 days may have had something to do with it  women :no2:
