Just got an ARB rear step bar off flea bay for the RRC. It will be replacing the 4000Kg Hayman Reece towbar already on the old girl. There is no data plate on the bar, so I was wondering if anyone knows what their capacity is? The Rangie gets called on to tow just on 3000Kg from time to time, and I want to make sure the rear bars tow hitch is up to the task.

Cheers - Gav.

Kaymar website does not list a bar for a RRC.

Discovery 2 (& 1 I think) are 4000kg. There is no capacity listed for the D3 or D4.

If you want to know exactly I would suggest a call to Kaymar (or an email as they responded promptly to an enquiry I sent them) to double check.

One could guess it would be at least 3500kg if that is the vehicle rated capacity but may be 4000kg like the D2.

You can't get a new one any more, maybe that's why there is no info for them? Thanks for the info - it is a pretty strong and heavy unit, so it could be 3500 to 4000Kg. Being that the Disco bar is 4000Kg, I think you would be close with your assumption that the RR bar being similar.

Be worth contacting Kaymar to find out though.

Gav,
The data plate on my ARB rear step bar reads "4000kg max trailer mass" - 250kg max static towball load.
cheers

Beauty, thanks for that. That is the same as the current towbar, so all good. :)

Hi Gav,
The NSW RTA has the following on their wed site:
The towbar should be clearly and permanently marked with its:
Maximum rated capacity.
Make and model of the vehicle it is intended for or the
manufacturer’s part number.
Manufacturer’s name or trade mark.
This is compulsory for vehicles built after 1 January 1992. The exception is where the towbar is a permanent part of the vehicle.

I would try and get a cert plate from ARB if possible. I would be a bit worried about insurance if you had an accident.

Cheers,
Peter
