Hey all,

I'm looking to get a set of side steps for the D2, either good condition used or not overly expensive new.

Any tips on types, price estimates and locations where I could get a set would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Chris

Les Richmond Automotive in Melb have a couple of types, I'd opt for the rubber coated ones mate, approx $600
I looked for second hand ones for months with no luck.

The usual ports of call - either here on the forum, eBay, or the likes of TRS or British Off Road etc.

How much is 'not overly expensive'?

Triumph Rover Spares had some a few weeks ago, not sure if for a D2 though.

Iha d a RRC and must say they were handy when the out-laws wanted to get in but for even the lightest of off-roading they always scrape, bend and get caught on something.

Just what I found but you may never go off road so could well suit you perfectly.

Thanks DiscoB... I'll check it out. Yep, I'm keen on the rubber coated ones with the integrated front mud flap.

Stu, anywhere between $0-$600 would be ideal. Thanks for the tips.

I'll check TRS to see what they've got. The steps are purely to make it easier for passengers and the missus to get in and out of the car. There won't be much, if any major off road work going on with this one so it'll be all good.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi Chris
I bought a secondhand pair of Landrover D1 sidesteps for 120.00. These are the tube variety with the removable rubber button type treads over a steel plate.
I removed the rubber treads, repositioned the brackets and rewelded them in place. Primed then repainted them in black epoxy paint.
Then refitted the rubber treads and fitted the steps to the chassis.
I found they had a little give in them when you put weight on them so I made up 4 x angle hangers that srewed to the inside face of the door sills down onto the side of the side step brackets.
They are only used for access not rock sliding etc. All up cost about 150.00 plus 3 hrs in time. They look good and are very strong and ecconomical . Maybe an option if else fails.
Cheers
Steve

Thanks for everyone's input and PM's. Especially Chris, Wardy and Dale.

I got lucky and found a cheap set of ARB steps today. Job done, all installed.
