Hi guys

im stil chasing vibrations as most of u probably are too. Any way my front shaft is in phase meaning the ujs line up perfectly. In this position the splines slide perfectly. I have read that they should be approx 30 degrees off set but the shafts dont want to slide into each other in any other position. With a slight tap of the mallet they will go in though.

Can someone confirm if the ujs are meant to be out of phase and if so when looking towards the front of the vehicle from the gearbox should the uni at the transfercase be left rotated or right rotation compared to the uj on the male end of the shaft.
Thanx guys any help will be much appreciated.

Oh its 99 td5 auto. Thanx.

Pretty sure mine are "in phase" from what your saying. The shaft was recently rebuilt by Hardy Spicer including balance, so I guess they knew what they were doing....

D2 should have a double cardon joint at the t/case end should be run in phase with the lower uni.

The only uni's that are run out of phase are 90/110/130's as they use a single uni at either end of the front shaft and the diff pinion is not in the same plane as the t/case output shaft so the uni's need to be run out of phase to reduce vibration.

The DC shaft on the D2 eliminates any potential vibration arising from the same situation in a more sophisticated way.

Thanks very much.
I had read several opinions about phasing front shafts and I wasn't too sure. Especially when my shaft didn't want to go together out of phase. Thanx again.:)
