Now all I have to do, is work out how it all goes together...

But will it make a 2-post hoist?

Basil135

Nope. No hoist in this.

Thats why I made this mess:

So I could put this up for the hoist:

10.5 x 4 meters of pure joy...

Well, minus the bit at the end that SWMBO has claimed.

Lovely matey...dead chuffed for you....I'd never owned a proper shed until I moved to Australia from the UK...

My deal was the wife got a brand new baby and I got a 7.5m x 6m shed....best deal I'd ever done in my life although they will both cost me an exorbitant amount of money over the years.....But I love em both....

Yup. HIS shed, aka Man Cave.

HER veranda.

But, with a tv, fridge & internet in the "cave" I know where I will be spending most of my time. After her bit is done, that is.

There will be beer in the fridge, made by the Coopers family. Is XXXX something the swear filter picked up? :p

And I am trying to convince SWMBO that the plasma would look better out there. Could be stuck with the old CRT & a set-top box for a while by the looks of things.

Dont quite know how this turned into a discussion on the amber liquid, but there is only one local brand that is worth considering.

COOPERS

Lets face it, XXXX cause they cant spell beer
VB cause any more letters just confuses them
Swan cause thats where it comes from
Tooheys cause it rots your toofs

Made from only the finest malt & hops since 1862.

In 1864, Thomas wrote to his brother in Yorkshire,“There are some half dozen breweries besides ours in and about Adelaide, but they all use a good deal of sugar and so on for brewing, but we use only malt and hops, consequently, ours being pure, the doctors recommend it to all their patients”.

So, how many of the others are recommended by doctors?

There endeth the lesson.

Time for an update.

After 3 weekends, 1 trip from the top of the ladder to the ground, several sleepless nights, a reasonable amount of abuse leveled at the engineers, and a couple of stiff scotches while trying to work out the "plans", progress has been made.

Of the 4 sections in total, section 1 is at 80% complete.

Section 2 & 4 are framed and awaiting roofing.

Section 3 is 100% complete, with only the landscaping to be done.

Section 1 roof going on. Notice the Disco keeping an eye on things.

Section 2. First gable going up.

Section 3 completed. Rainwater tanks are a good height for putting on the gutters.

Stay tuned for further updates.

So, after the 5th weekend, I hereby declare the veranda, aka Meccano set, complete. Well pretty much so, anyway.

The final gutter bracket was installed at 1854 hrs today. All that is left to do, is install the downpipes.

Now for some boring stats:

19 beams varying in length from 1.7m to 8.7m
10 sheets of corrugated roof iron
28.6m of guttering
43 sheets of other roofing deck
10 posts
10 purlins
380 rivets
828 tek screws
250 other screws
75 bolts, washers & nuts
Plus various other bits & pieces

Total weight: 1209 kg

Overall, it is 17.47m wide, & 13.03m long. Gable is about 5.2m/sq & measures about 5m high at the point.

Now, all there is left to do, is the landscaping...

nice job indeed:BigThumb:
suggestion: If you wish to sit out under the patio on cold nights ....don't use a coal/wood fired wrought iron brazier thingo for heat... it will soon bubble and scorch the paint on the underside of the patio roof ...don't ask:mad:
A pot belly with a proper flu much better idea:angel:

Thats ok. I am collecting all of the rainwater into tanks.

Stay tuned for that little set-up. The tank inlet is higher than the roof. But, where there is a will, there is a way.:D

Good suggestion. Thanks for that.

I am also looking at those new Ethanol burning heaters.
