The riveting device I made from an old push rod end and some scrap bar.
The vehicle looks better in the pics than in "real time"

Took me ages to get the mottled effect on the bonnet ! 400 grade wet and dry ...

I'm using round head screws to fix the bonnet skeleton framework

The Sheraton model AR Lathe..made in Melbourne . A copy of the ubiquitous USA Southbend model A designed in the 1930's . The Sheraton company made Lathes from the early 1950's to early 80's ?? This example uses tapered roller bearings in the headstock.... hence the "R" in the model code . Normally they have plain bronze bearings which are OK for most work .

I'm thinking of making up a replica British army signals vehicle circa Korean war ..

This chassis was originally a early headlight behind grill model with the bumber mounting plates on the chassis

I did my best to recover a rather mangled chassis , cut off the bumber plates , they were too far gone .

Hope to install the correct grill one day ..

Roger that.. it's a nice lathe to use . I've had a few mishaps as you do, but the lathe is built strong and handles it all with ease. I've only got basic skills but still, its been so handy to have on hand. It's paid for itself over and over.
