Hi All,
The rubber on my key fob is peeling off. Has anybody experienced the same?
Guess it's a warranty job?
Cheers,
Kev.

Just in case you have no joy with warranty, try this mob Polmex (http://www.polmex.com.au/)
They've done D2 & D3's, not sure about D4's yet but if not they may require your damaged key fob to pattern off. Another AULRO member did this when his D3 one was damaged.
I have no pecuniary interest in Poltex but know from experience that their products, prices and service are excellent.

Cheers mate, I'll see what pans out but it's good to have a Plan B.

Hi Mate,
Thanks, but are you talking about replacement fobs, or a glue or what?
Cheers,
Kev.

I'd make getting it replaced under warranty the plan B. Getting a replacement key is not what it used to be - granted a lot has changed since I last needed a new key for a car (last one was for my 1992 Daihatsu Charade....)

I know what you're saying....that it's going to be a grand pain in the ass but was hoping that the external case can be replaced or they have some sort of adhesive?
I could do this myself, but I have a fundamental issue with me finding a work around for a new car.
But as you're alluding, sometimes it's not worth the pain...LOL!!!
What's with the D3 being waterproof and the D4 not...what is that crap? And I don't mean I doubt the story, I'm asking why the hell LR have done this?
Cheers,
Kev.

Yeah - makes going for a surf as a D4 owner a bit tricky. A good excuse to move closer to the beach though! :)
I'm not sold on that whole keyless entry stuff, but I do wonder if it is one of those things I'd learn to love in time.
Once upon a time I was dead against electric windows! Then when I bought my D3, I at first couldn't figure out why you'd want or need auto headlights or auto wipers - now they are on my must-have list!
I put it all down to my first car being a Datsun 120Y where the list of things that didn't work was longer than the list of stuff that did, and so I tended to view a car as "a bunch of things that will eventually stop working"
Thankfully car makers and I have learned a lot since the Datsun 120Y!!! God bless it's sole
I always wonder if that rubbish can opener in the draw was made from the scrap metal of my 120Y......

They look like the rubber fob covers.
If you go to Ebay & type in "Discovery 3" there are several currently listed. You would probably have to have a good look at them to make sure they would fit but the are called Discovery 3 key fob replacement covers or similar.
I know there are always a few listed under Discovery 3.

I should mention I have never worked out how to do links, so didn't do one.

Finally got off my butt and took the fob into LR. No issue at all, replaced that day under warranty. :)
