Looked at a D2 tonight - is this the ACE controller? I've done a search and didn't think there were any controllers in the rear wheel arch? Or is it something else...? Ta muchly

That is an ESR 4686, otherwise known as a fuel filter:D
Nice, a 2003 model, how much are they asking?

I always thought it was a strange place to put filters.
Easy to service easy to break.
But honestly, never heard of one break or had any damage to one personally.
Still, strange place.

JEEZ!!!!!!! Look at the chassis............like NEW :eek:
Fuel filters and in particular the sensors have been damaged, few topics on here about it tbh. One of the reasons I fitted a guard to it.

This picture had made me nervous I've had my d2 in for a number of services but this particular filter has never been replaced?would that be strange?

Depends. If you look at the attached checklist it says every 60K kms.
Due to where I live I change it with all the other filters when I change the oil - every 10,000km.

Guessing thats a TDI?
Definately not V8. Have been looking at a better option for the V8 though. Could a TDI be used?

Oh sweet yeh it's a td5 I don't think I've even done 60000 since I've had it,that's good mileage out of a filter.mainly driving and filling in Sydney helps to I suppose no dodgy fuel
