On Sunday morning I was in a small but well spaced convoy of like-minded Land Rover folk heading south from Canberra to Bredbo for a regular Sunday Breakfast, Lies and Coffee gathering. We were pretty much on the speed limit when Juan Fangio flew past in his fat tired RAV4. "Bl**dy fool" I thought. We rounded the sweeping turn into Bredbo, crossing the railway line, and there down the road, just where we were heading, were flashing blue lights. Not unexpected for a regular traveller in these parts. As we pulled up at the said flashing lights, to turn across the highway to our breakfast venue, who should we see talking to the good constable but Juan himself, though he looked more like Mr Bean. “Oh what a feeling” I said. We had a lovely breakfast, not too many lies, and the coffee was OK.

Cheers

Returning from out west, coming out of Lithgow all is wet with drizzle. On my tail and older V8 Commode with a couple of occupants with the right look, neck tats and beanies. Coming out of bend, why wait another 20 metres for the broken lines, out over the doubles and away they go. Can see overtaking some others further along. A few kays later there is Mt Victoria, for those not in the know, steep uphill and winding. The last (eastbound) corner is 90 degree sharp righthander with dual lanes. The heros has obviously given the commode a boot full on the bend and lost it, overcorrected and onto the wrong side of the road and head on into a new v8 Landcruiser troopcarrier. Everyone out, looked like no one hurt, the commode an obvious write off when I started feeling sorry for the dude with major damage to his new landcruiser - get closer, it was a Britz rental. Almost made me believe in god.

Going to work one morning, going down Heathcote road I notice a black WRX coming down the 2 lane section before the bridge, after crossing the bridge and 200 mtrs up the road it goes back into 2 lanes, I go into the right lane to overtake a slow loaded truck, just as I'm about to change lanes I spotted the WRX trying to beat me into the lane, so I remained in the right lane to let him go, just as he was drawing level he plants the boot, as it's a corner and with too much boot I look over to see him sideways and facing me, a quick dab of the brakes, a swerve left and I watch him slide sideways across in front of me and into the armco, bounces off the armco and a Hilux coming down the hill plough into the back of the WRX.

Got out of my car run down to see if all are OK, to my amazement the big guy in the Hilux steps out of his car with only a scratch on his forehead, the guy in the WRX wasn't so lucky, broken back, I made him comfortable until the coppers arrived, gave them my details and off I went, sad really, only a young bloke too.

Bredbo is a popular spot to book motorists.....speaking from experience......one morning going to snowfields a copper had two vehicles driving slowly behind him while he interceptted myself and another driver at high speed.....very high speed to achieve his goal. while he wrote us up the other vehicles turned up and he wrote them up too.
