Friends of Sharon and Alfred (our daughter & son-in-law) near Mission Beach. Moved in late last year.

Our friends just north of Cardwell. Today is the first day they were able to get into Cardwell with flooding causeways. They needed more fuel for their generators.

Our mate used to work for the Barra farm, but this has completely disappeared.

They have been through a number of cyclones, coming from Weipa, however, they said they were happy they stuck it out at their house.

This pic was taken year before last when we were up there.

Thanks for the pictorial Eric.
I guess the most important things are that your friends are okay and that the hainsey looks good to go.
Surely the best way to clean that debris off is to launch and blast out to the reef ;)

Glad to se there only appears to be residual damage, still heartbreaking to see though.

Thanks Erich. Even with supposedly 110kph winds with Ingrid in March 2005 the trees on Nhulun lost 50% of their foliage. The eye passed over the northern tip of Elcho Island and that was devoid of all foliage.

I remember "Ingrid" Dale.

Sharon was living in Gove at the time and she and a few friends sat out Ingrid at a mates place down near the Surf Club (Alcan accommodation), overlooking the beach. Thank goodness it was classed as "cyclone rated"....or so they said.

Looking back it must have been a bit of an "adventure" but at the time she said they were just a bit concerned. They spent most of the night in the bathroom as it seemed to be the safest place.

She sent pics of the morning after, and there were huge trees uprooted in town.

I seem to remember the banana plantation at Yirrkala got destroyed as well.

Main trees were the Casuarina's on the corner of Matthew Flinders and Chesterfield. Rest are gone due to white ants now.

Took Bruce quite a while to get banana production back up to normal.
