Hi,I cannot engage low range or nuetral on my 04 D2 auto its currently in high range but the odd thing is with the transfer case lever pushed fully forward which should be low its still in high and if I pull it back to the high position it remains in high but the diff lock lite comes on allso no hi/lo light on dash it should come on for a second when the key is turned to position 11 but this doesn"t happen, anybody got any ideas'the hi/lo lever does feel a bit sloppy, thanks,Rick

Sounds very much like the cable isnt connected to the lever.... Can u get someone to move it whilst you feel/observe from underneath...you may be looking at stripping out the centre console and coming in from the top..... Allow a good couple of hours!!! You will need a rivet cutter drill bit and replacement rivets and small hands with an ability to hold a bright torch!!!!
Best of luck

the hi/lo cable connects to a small lever that comes out of a casting held on with 6 bolts, the one the breather screws into,
undo the 6 bolts, remove the casting,
inside is a rod that the outer lever rotates, connected to this rod inside is another lever which is held in place with a grub screw,
I would guess this grub screw has come loose, remove, degrease and refit tight, with threadlock,

Know what you mean. I would say in my opinion the D2 isn't made to last when used off road (like an older landy of deefer). Mine is starting to have numerous issues one after the other that my older series 3 would never have shown. But that's the price to pay for fuel economy and comfort. Bit annoyed at some of the engine issues, especially the TD5 head gasket ones. Air suspension I can live with as the advantages outweigh the negative for me, and once I got my head around it it's very easy to maintain. Although can be expensive!
The MOST annoying thing though has been Land Rover franchise mechanics doing work I could have done with my leatherman tool; when I pay top $ to get a job done because I can't do it myself due to time, I expect it done properly! This is another reason I say mine's time is 'dated' - although they pay for their stuff-ups, it seems as it get older and problems get more complex, they are less and less able to fix them properly! (and I see less and less of car! - auto gearbox our 4 times last year before all was fixed!).
If you can fix it yourself, my opinion is do it!
