V8 choke

I have a V8 98 Disco. I get about 20lt/100 km for open road and around town. It often feels like driving a car with the choke out - it tends to run on a bit. Do these things have an adjustable choke? I live on a flat street at the top of a hill and if I take my foot of the gas after I crest the hill it will keep driving itself up the street to my driveway?

I have always felt it was running a little rich. Could the temp sensor also cause something like this? I mean if it was faulty could it be sending the ECU a single indicating that the motor is always cold and henceforth it keeps pumping in more gas than it needs.

The temp sender issue is common. It is on the front of the inlet manifold with a 2 wire plug that looks like an injector plug. The resistance of the sender with the engine hot should be around 300 ohms. If not somewhere near that get a new one and fit it.

oh, and it's a v8, got one of those,
yep they do like fuel.

i find the best way to account for their high fuel consumption is to keep the big right foot hard on the pedal as possible,

that way you get as much fuel through it as possible, and
a whole lotta fun.

Check the engine breather pipes, I found one blocked up on my EFI'ed county and it would either stall, or idle at 2000rpm
