Amazing, what other worthwile causes can a government support.
How about comfortable sofas in junky shooting rooms. Or maybe Zebra crossings on outback highways near the free rest stops.

Wow that's just stupid. Let's give a gift of everyone's tax dollars for, well, a day created by marketing execs so they can sell more cards

A cynic might suspect there was an election in the near future.

I am going to say what does not need to be said. A wedding costs thousands, often over 10k and more. This $40 costs each party 20 bucks each, no matter how poor you are if you want to get married I am sure you can arrange $20 for the certificate, this is no help whatsoever. I dont even think it will help in an election and if it does then the voters of NSW are drongos.

Mate, Labor has been raping NSW for so many years, how can you think that the voters here aren't drongos!

I'm still shaking my head about it, but no one in the media seems to have taken it up from what I can see...
Ms Keneally described it as a "one-off Valentine's Day present".
"This is a small gesture on behalf of the Government to share the love on Valentine's Day," she said. "Waiving the licence fee is our pre-wedding present to the estimated 42,000 couples who will marry in NSW this year.
"I can assure anyone considering proposing this Valentine's Day that my Government is happy to cut out one minor cost - a wedding certificate.
"Every couple knows that saving for a wedding can be a challenge; everything adds up and every little bit helps." :rocket:

Saw it in the paper and thought exactly the same thing, total waste of time. People dont care about a once, well hopefully once, in a lifetime $45 fee.
