It took two people, the nurses and a large security guard to tackle the angry patient and eventually restrain him.

The NT News understands the 50-year-old patient assistant carer was trying to handle the disabled man when the man punched the carer repeatedly with his good arm and flailed his stumps angrily.

One wonders about the reasons why the patient has only one arm and no legs!

If it was a traumatic cause, then the patient is likely suffering from PTSD so likely not responsible for actions at the time. The other possible cause is peripheral vascular disease leading to gangrene, either the toxins or uncontrolled diabetes possible scenarios accounting for is behavior.

IMHO What ever the cause, the whole situation is rather tragic and not really funny at all.

As in Police work, this sort of situation comes with the job working in health and rather different from the unacceptable situation of a drunk, drug intoxicated or aggressive person abusing the staff in the emergency department. :angrylock:
