Hi all, Just wondering from the more experienced, how long does a replaced rear crank oil seal take before it starts to leak again?
:cool:seems common they leak oil from there but i wonder how many kms before i should start putting the cardboard under the vehicle to protect the concrete?

It varies, but the one thing that will make it leak sooner is wear in the main bearings. A grooved crank seal surface will also leak after replacing the seal.
Sorry I don't have better news, or easy solutions.
Dan.

Can't help except to comment that mine does not leak - and presumably the rear main seal was replaced when the engine was overhauled some time before I got the vehicle eighteen years ago. (There are, or have been) a few other leaks, but not that one!)
