Hi I've got a 2001 4.6 RR. Does anybody know if and or where the fuel filter is situated.I have traced the fuel line from the tank to the engine and cannot locate it.I was told by a main dealer that they don't have one but this seems hard to believe, any help would be appreciated.

Correct... The Nth American spec version has an external filter, but for some reason not those imported here....There's a filter bag device in the tank instead ...

I have been toying with the idea of fitting an external filter similar to that on my Commodore LS1 5.7L ...

EDIT: BTW, welcome to the forum!! Have you also checked out www.rangerovers.net ? There's a heck of a lot of detailed P38 tech data there including common problems and fixes...

Are you sure, Allan? The pre-99 P38A (like mine) has an external filter but I wasn't aware that post-99 NAS vehicles also had one.

There are too many posts on RRNET asking the same question for this to be correct.

Mea Culpa! should have specified applies to Bosch upgrade...:oops2:
British Parts lists ESR4065 as applicable to RRClassic 1991-1995 and RRP38 1995-2002... hence my thoughts on the NAS version.

Hello to the other side of earth :)

I'was , better am on the same question.
I ordered an service from rimmerbros kit and got everything including an fuel filter. On my old 4.0 SE (my '95) the filter was rear/rigt behind the plastic wheel covers. The 4.6 HSE (my 2000) didn't have one, or at least in this location. Oh, and the spark plugs where for the pre '99 engine ... but that's another story.
