anyone use/own a top handle chainsaw??

Hi

does anyone use a top handled saw in particular a stihl (ms192t or ms200t) or husky (T435 or 338XPT)

I need a saw to take wheelin mainly for camp firewood but would like the smallest possible as space is always at a premium. @ the moment i take my dad's old echo with a 14" bar. Does every thing we need and is compact but soooo old.

seems that the TH are made for pros in trees or cherry pickers, wondering what they are like to use on the ground

Buy a normal size saw,as small as you think you can use for other than camping.
When you cart it,remove the bar/chain.They take minutes to fit/remove.

around 55cc with 18" bar is a useful size :)

Hi mate,

I am in the logging/forestry game - hence chainsaws are a big part off every day life.
The Sthil MS 200 will serve you well for what you intend to do.
I often use this size for camping/4wding - you will be surprised what these will tackle - very handy saw for size.
The old Sthil 009 would be another good choice if they are still around or the Shindaiwa 357 - bloody gutsy little saw (regular weapon of choice).

I've got a top handle Stihl "T" series. Excellent little saw for being up a tree, but bad on your wrists if you've got a lot to cut (as you don't have the leverage of a normal saw). Be perfect for camping if you just want a few small bits to get a fire going, but there'd definitely be cheaper options.....

Any of those saws get my vote...

Just remember to keep the chain out of the ground & keep it sharp.
