Still getting more rain up here. Roads are cut and trucks can not get in. Woolworths today, no meat at all, no seafood, very little fruit and veg, no bakery products, very little deli, no bread, very little milk left including UHT. Could be a week before trucks can get in.
Mine sites are bring people back into town from outlying camps and mines, but there is going to be no food to feed them soon.
Lucky we are stocked up.
Could get interesting.
Went down the shop this arvo and when we went into the hardware shop no rain, in there 5 mins come out water up to door, roads flooded nearly a foot of water.
Walked 10 metres to car and was soaked through.
BMKal you should probablly stay in Kal on Monday.

Thanks Craig. I'm trying to get someone on site to make the call whether it's worth me and a few others coming to site on Monday. We've got some contractors booked to arrive Monday and Tuesday, but they won't be able to do anything if they do turn up, as all the gear they need is either at Meekatharra or still in Perth - a lot of trucks are not even bothering to leave Perth until the road is open.
According to Main Roads website, Great Northern Hwy is now closed from Cue to Newman - you can't even get as far north as Meeka at the moment.
They're showing Newman to Marble Bar Rd now open to 4WD's and trucks in the text on their website, but in the pdf map of road closures, it's shown as closed to all traffic.
I see they've also closed the section of the highway between the Newman airport turnoff and Capricorn due to "congestion". I can only guess that means that there is a lot of road trains parked all up & down the highway out there.

You were on the money Craig.
Just got a message from site telling me not to come up tomorrow. They copped 50mm in about half an hour at about 4:00pm, and it looks like more coming in.
So I'll fly down to Perth in the morning and stay there until I'm told otherwise - plenty I can do working out of Perth office.
On the bright side - they got the weekly food truck in a couple of days ago on one of the occasions when the road was open for a while, so we won't starve. Just have to make arrangements for a grog run into Newman (if the bottle shop there isn't out of stock). :o

The highway was opened this afternoon about 1400. Knew that by trucks heading out and the food truck for woolworths (Centurion) drove past our place about 1600. How long it is open for or if they are just escorting essential trucks through I do not know.
The Marble Bar road is still closed. We had about another 30mm this afternoon, just as I was fitting new door seals.

They must be escorting a few through.
Main Roads website update says Meeka to Newman open to emergency and essential services trucks only, under supervision.
They don't list the road from Auski to Roy Hill as being either open or closed, but I got told this afternoon that our bomb truck coming in that way from Hedland is bogged somewhere at the Auski end of the road.

That'll be an interesting recovery.
Auski RH will be doing a good trade, if they have any tucker left.

They got him in last night Ian - with a grader. Apparently all arrived back on site about midnight.
I've been put off for another day again - now flying to site Wednesday morning, if they don't get any more rain between now & then.
There was a big bomb scare in the centre of Perth today, and the cops had a large part of the shopping area of the CBD and streets nearby barricaded off and everyone evacuated. Wouldn't you know it, I'm in a motel / apartments in the affected area. Managed to ring reception though, and they told me how to get in down a back lane into their carpark, and then upstairs in the elevator. :D
Was sitting out on the balcony above Barrack Street shortly after, watching the cops running around with their little bomb disposal robots.

Still raining up here. The highway was opened yesterday arvo and the 110 truck parked at the Capricorn Roadhouse allowed to head back to Perth and probablly about that coming up.
Karratha had a Tornado hit yesterday and they are calling in SES from all over and Cyclone Carlos still to come.
