At the far left of our Banner is a bright headlight,, and if you can tear your eyes away from those fabulous fenders, there's a little sign that says

G'day All, I can remember a long time ago (sounds like a story doesn't it!!;)) when Ross Carswell former web manager of REMLR told me about this site.
Well I have to be honest, it took forever to load, the pictures looked like Land Rovers made out of build-a-brix, and most times it dropped out of sight (not anyones fault) dial up internet service, it has come a long way and it is a credit to Dave, cheers Dennis

pedro, you and i were there within a couple of days or so of inc setting it up way back then,
i didn't think it was that far back.
after a couple of attacks and major rebuilds, we now enjoy dave's hard work getting it to what it is today.
not sure now, but i think i was member no 5, you might have been seven,
or were you here before me?
not that it matters.
when was aulro's birthday?

yep kelvin,
the beginning was lost altogether, in a savage attack in which inc had to wipe it all and start again,
from memory, inc emailed us all to give us the new site's address, and away we went.
if you go to the newsletters page you can find edition no.1, with some notable early members mentioned,
bigbugga, discowhite, pheonix, fernoculated, incisor, and others.

Inc announced he was going to set up a message board on the old AULRO email list way back then.
I remember Inc, Ron and David Read from SA and moi were members of that old email list, sorry, can't recall who else, too many glasses of red tonight :D
I remember becoming a member straight away but geeze it was quiet back then, I spent most all my time on the old LRE board  and when I did come back I couldn't get back in as poor Dave had a few server crashes :(

Carzee (Ross Carswell) and I became great mates when he took a deeper interest in photography. He moved here to Canberra a short while after we did. Last time I saw him, he had decided to do things with motorcycles.

Brings back memories. I think I had just gotten rid of my Disco (may have still had it depending on 2001 or 2002), but do remember visiting and logging on when it was posted on another site pre dating this one. Anyone remeber the name of it???? A lot of the original guys on here were on it as I know I was.
Anyway Happy 10th Anniversary, maybe we all need to kick in and get Dave a Gold watch.

Similar here I can remember it being announced on the email list and signed up, but not much activity and often couldn't get on. I think it was the "Land Rover Owners Portal"
I have an email from Dave dated May 2002 with a password etc and an early user name def_ender (sort of glad that one slipped :o).

Yeah I was around very brielfy just before the bushfire that took out the blck stuump... then got on to AURo so must have been pretty early in the piece.
I remember it all being reduced to electrons and reborn thanks to Inc's persistence and devotion to teh place.
After the rebirth I became quite active, eventually accumulating plenty of posts (and consequently, stars) until THAT day when post counts and stars got savaged ( I think I lost about half of them for some reason ). Ah happy days.
A big Thanks to Inc for all his efforts over the years which has kept this place up and running. And here's to another ten ! CHEERS !

Not sure when I joined. I know I was on a forum that didn't move with the times - I can't even remember the name - something like Australian Range Rover and Discovery Forum.
The last time I looked Bradtot was still on it.
Ahh - here it is: Australian Range Rover and Discovery Forum (http://members.boardhost.com/blumx/) - still limping along, close to but not quite dead.

That attack was 20th August 2002:
Australian Landrover Owners Online Portal (http://web.archive.org/web/20020926013656/http://www.aulro.com/)
It was certainly a "simpler" place then:
http://web.archive.org/web/20020916055514/www.aulro.com/modules.php?name=Forums
I think I joined just after Inc got the place back up and running.
I followed the link Phoenix posted on the Overlander Forum.
And then we had another hiccup in April 2003:
Australian Landrover Owners Online (http://web.archive.org/web/20030621065833/http://www.aulro.com/index.php)

I actually started puting bits together in november 2000 running it under powerweb running on an OS/2 box.
it actually went public on or about october 23rd 2001, running phpbb on a debian linux box.

i cant remember when I joined like Harry it wasn't long after I bought the Disco, I remember I was surfing the net looking for info on it about getting better fuel consumption - after near ten years I have simply accepted it swallows fuel like the concorde did or perhaps a saturn V rocket.
I have looked at many sites and none of them come close to this one. Now with the addition of the modified and extreme sections I doubt I will any more either, not that I was on the others regularly anyway

Was there not another in a similar format. I know I was on it as were a lot of others, I think even you Ron. It was not blackstump, was something like AULRO but the name escapes me, was not a bad site and a little better than Australian Range Rover and Discovery Forum (looked at this one and I had no posts so know it was not that one).
