Baby seats??? how many can i fit

Hello all FL drivers I am putting out this "How many baby seats can i fit in the back of a FL??"

the wife needs a new car and she will no longer drive my D2 because of mods.

have around 20K but want something better on fuel then a big V8 discovery.

Anyone help me:o

Go for the Freelander! We get one from the Service guys as a loan car often and we can fit three kiddy seats across the back. I am asuming this will be enough :eek:

They are great little cars but go for either the TD4 or the e electric combo engine thingy. Don't get the V6 as it is as thirst as an old V8 and the TD4 is just as nippy.

Also if you can afford it go for the full leather interior. It will last longer with kids :twisted:

A lot depends on the type of seat. The ones that fit kids up to 7 years are much larger than up to 4 year type. I doubt that I could fit three of the larger ones in my D2, or even two large and one small.

Do you need rear facing seats or forward and what age group? My son couldn't ride in the Defender until he was old enough for us to turn the seat forward as it just doesn't fit rear facing. I know a Defender is different to a freelander but as our car seats a so much bulkier than those I've seen in the UK I would be careful.

As far as I know freelanders have three points but I would suspect the most you could fit comfortably would be two seats and I'd think they would be forward facing.

Space and practicality

Freelander's rear seat has three lap/sash belts, and child restraint anchors on the seat backs, but is really only wide enough for two adults to travel comfortably. Head room is also lacking for tall occupants, while access is on the tight side.

Personally I would think a Disco would be better on space if you're trying to get more than one child, plus prams, portacots (if your children are young) bags, adults etc.

I have a 2001 2door (softtop) freelander and have 2 booster seats (kids are 4 and 6) and there is enough room for an adult in the back still, so there would be room for another seat.
If you are worried just take the seats and try them in the car before you buy, if they want a sale they won't complain! :)
