Fog lamp switch - correct part number?

Hi All,

I have just bought a Fog Lamp Switch part # YUG102620, and expected that it would be the same switch as supplied in the fog lamp accessory kit. In the D2, the top left switch is the Rear Fog Lamp switch and in the second position down a blanking plate holds the wiring loom for the front fog lamps.

Just plug in the new front fog lamp switch and hey presto. Nope, the switch that was supplied will only go in the top position were the rear fog lamp switch is.:mad:

The cause is the top switches are built a bit different to the middle switches, so the new front fog lamp switch interferes with the rear fog lamp switch.

The reason I'm doing this of course is to control my spot lights, which the switch is doing a wonderful job electrically. And achieve a factory look.

So the question is, what is the part number for a Front Fog Lamp switch that will go into the second position?

I don't really want to attack the switch with the dremel tool.:eek:

from memory the standard rear fog light gets moved into the second down position and the new one goes in the top position inplace of the original one when you do the upgrade

I have a 2003 D2 with the fog lights and on my dash the top switch is the front fog light and the second down is the rear fog lights. (This is the correct order by the way as per Rosscoe's comment)

As you don't have front fog lights the button part number is different however it might be just a case of switch-a-roo. Fog light switch to the top and rear fog light switch to the second one down.

Part Numbers as follows:-

Front Fog Light (Vin 2A9999) YUG102620

Rear Fog Light (Vin 2A9999) YUE100670

The factory look is what I'd be doing too.

Thanks guys,

I checked the RAVE cd and your right, the new front fog lamp switch goes to the top.

However, I still have the same problem with the rear fog lamp switch. Either I need a new front for the switch or out with the dremel...

I decided to trim the rear fog lamp switch to make it fit back into the binnacle. I used a ScotchBrite wheel on my bench grinder, the switch looks like a bought one.:)

Now back to the beginning. Having consulted the RAVE CD I decided that if I bought a Front Fog Lamp switch and relay I could use the circuit to control my new spot lights as I have no intention of ever fitting fog lamps.

To do this you need the Front Fog Lamp switch and yellow relay to go into the engine bay. You also need a second 12v relay, in addition to the normal spot light relay as provided with the lights.

Next take out the blanking plate to find the green header for the front fog lamps:

Fit the fog lamp switch, as per the comments above, the front fog lamp switch is usually installed in the top position and the rear fog lamp switch moved down one position. My photo shows the switch in the bottom position:

The problem I had was with the bottom switch interfering with the top switch. In the end I just trimed the top of the rear fog lamp switch (was in the bottom position):

To make it all work you need to program the BCU to tell the car that the Front Fog Lamps are now fitted. There are three settings that can be programmed. 1) fog lamps not fitted. 2) fog lamps on only on low beam. 3) fog lamps on either low or high beam, this is the setting that we want. It is a pity that they did not have a setting to only have the "fog" lamps on with the high beam.

Due to this over sight by Land Rover we need to use an additional relay, this relay is powered by the fog lamp power connector under the front right mud guard. (There is another one on the left hand side but it is harder to get to due to the close proximity of the water bottle.) The purpose of this relay is to switch the power from the high beam lamp and hence controlling the second (main) spot lamp relay.
