I'm about to put new King Springs in the front of the 130 HCPU. It has Koni dampers in it, that I didn't install, and I was wondering whether they want/need adjusting. Apparently the Kings will raise the front up a bit until I put new springs/polyair bags in the rear, so I was wondering if this impacts on the decision to adjust the dampers.

This page shows the process Koni North America - ITT - Adjustment (http://www.koni-na.com/adjustment.cfm), provided it suits my dampers.

Anyone had any experience with these?

Plenty of people run Koni's, mostly the twin tube, AKA 'Heavy Track' version, not the gas mono tubes so use the second set of adjustment procedures on that page. (and be sure to check for any prior adjustment)

If indeed you have the mono tube version, (unusual in Australia) use the first set of instructions
(You'd be going well to compress them ala the twin tubes :D)

Hi
i have just bought some Koni Heavy Tracks for the front of my Puma and i was under the impression from the Koni website that they were set to a default soft setting at the factory? you can make them firmer if you want?

is that your understanding as well?

The konis fitted to that defender are adjusted by .
removing the bottom of the shocker from its mount and compressing it all the way up.
Turn clockwise to make the shocker work harder.
Do exactly the same amount to the other side.
They were a big improvement over the standard shockers when fitted.
from memory they were adjusted half way when new.
In would try the vehicle without the polyairs fitted first.
You may be supprized at how well the standard rears could take a load even without the inside helper springs.
Depends on how soft the 2jnch lifted replacements are going to be ?

Ron, they always come from the factory set to the softest rebound setting but it always pays to check if thewy've already been adjusted.

Koni's original instructions were to only adjust for wear, to install them as they come out of the box but I pretty much always adjusted most all to full rebound when first installed :D
Funnily enough I didn't need to on the Defender, but I'm running TLC 80 series front dampers.

As for the 130 rear springs I'm running mine sans the inner springs and I have at least 400kg in the tray at all times.
The ride is much better than standard, obviously.
